mdgoonah41 I just checked mine - I joined here 2011 and joined A_M in December 2003! I just posted back on A-M to check my profile. Replied to a comment from one HomeSteak which was made 17 minutes ago. Anyone else also lurk or post over there? I hadn't been back for ages before that. It looks a bit daunting. I like it here better.

Just logged in. It's very information dense, every reply seems to top post the previous post, often adding very little. Lots of interminable player threads with dad joke moderated titles. Looks fairly degraded relative to its pomp, though it might just be a lack of familiarity.
Burnwinter the dad joke titles are a remnant from when the Tolly lot ran AM I think as for some reason player threads with just the player name in the title were forbidden.
I post quite often there, not necessarily about Arsenal or football though mostly just banter as I met a couple of the regulars there when in London and they're good people. Don't post much Arsenal because my interest in following the club and football in general is jaded and not what it used to be.
Ugh, i haven't been back to AM in years. Once it was taken over by advertisers and when Jonathan sold it, that was the end for me, and i was one of the admins there. I switched over here when it was created and slowly faded out of AM. I was there before it became A-M and it just turned into something i didn't like after a while.
Yep it definitely got too big to handle. I remember trying to moderate The Lobby and it was a nightmare. We locked people out of the main section and they had to "prove" themselves in The Lobby and then be nominated to for admittance. Some people rebelled and refused to leave The Lobby. It got a bit heated!
I like it here much more.

It was attempt to keep the stupidity out of the main forum, but it just turned into a free for all nightmare. Ugh. I think AnthonyG and I were 2 of the last of the 'old guard' left there after a while, and we both kind of drifted away from it.
We tried very hard to get Ant to come here with us.
Ant was here from the beginning but left pretty early, never knew why!
It's shocking man. My friends still mock me for living half my life on A-M, and now my GF does.
Pepe LeFrits He felt it was sort of disrespectful to leave A-M and abandon it since he was another admin. But he also eventually faded from there as far as I know. He had other things going on in his life.
I like to think he's still lurking around here somewhere just voyeuring us just waiting for his moment to step out of @Burnwinter's shadow and take the throne wafflery once and for all.

The Lobby situation was odd in retrospect but it seemed natural for the period, what, 2005 prior to algorithmic social media and so on.
At the time OMITT came into being I had the sense AntonyG actually enjoyed harassing the Lobby ... I guess you'd never lack for an activity.
Uffff and I tried to avoid the lobby as much as i could. Lol.
