I'm with you though. I remember saying a while ago, I thought it was fanciful Arteta would get rid of both Xhaka and Partey this summer, but I'm not so sure now. I guess the attraction of Rice is that he can either play with, or replace, Partey in the team.

we've fucked up massively if we don't have a plan to bring in at least 2 quality centre mids now that xhaka is on the verge of going

Maddison to be used the way Bernardo is used by Guardiola - a winger in bigger games and an 8 for games we dominate. He has the work rate and technical qualities to execute a similar role. I guess Trossard could be this player for us also.

Rice as a replacement for Xhaka.

And then a LB (Tierney replacement), DM (Caicedo/Zubimendi/Lavia) and ST (Vlahovic/Toney type).

5 signings might not be realistic though.

TambourineMan Madison will do well wherever he goes this summer. Definitely wouldn't say no. Smart player, think he'd work well with Arteta.

Ritsu Doan. Perfect addition for the right side of the attack to provide competition to Saka and give us depth.

Rightback or CB in - either way it sorts depth in both positions with White being able to switch

Rice - need his leadership qualities and power
SMS - perfect Xhaka replacement. Better feet, goal threat and high level of technical ability

Ugarte - versatile, tenacious and reasonably technical midfielder.

With a midfield pool of Rice, Partey, Ugarte, Jorginho, SMS and Odegaard we’d have depth an options to mix it up

Doan - perfect profile to give Saka competition. But if money permits we could go for a more established player

striker will have to wait - Vlahovic would be ace

lorddulaarsenal Think striker is a priority. Gives us a plan B. We have to go for this.

RB - White is solid for 80% of the time but we need more. There's no hope that Arteta will bring in a proper fullback given he is selling Tierney but I think Cancelo will solve a lot of our problems. Can play on both flanks and allows White to go back to CB too.

CM - I think we should go for one established player and one young player from one of the relegated teams on a cheap to free up funds elsewhere. Rice + McKennie/Adams/Roca/Tielemans/Lavia/Onana/Ndidi/Tielemans. Plenty of options.

Winger - None of our winger options other than Martinelli and Saka can be direct and beat their man. We need one more top option here especially if Nelson leaves. Mitoma will be fantastic.

Striker - Get rid of Nketiah, convince Balogun to stay or get Vlahovic/Ferguson. Osimhen is the dream but seems out of our range

Kulusevski for depth could be an interesting one. Think Spurs' option to buy ceases if they don't finish fourth. We need a striker though. Wonder if Watkins could be obtainable.

Cannon Villa will want impossible money for him. Been big on him for 2 seasons now will be superb as our 8

Vlahovic been linked to both Chelsea (!) and United. Would imagine given everything going on with Juve that there's a good chance he'll move this summer.

Still would @Don Pacifico, at the right price though, he looks about a £60m player on this season's (unreliable) evidence so we may be out of the race. It could be good to have a big egotistical lunk up front as an option, Vlahovic is 1.9m and likes to throw himself around a bit at dead ball situations. Not terrible on the ball either.

Burnwinter Yep, best chance to get him now while his stock is low. Allegri don't really fancy him too it seems

Clrnc Transfer news is suggesting Chelsea already put in a £70m bid which, honestly, is bloody high for a player who seems less than keen to leave Italy.

On the other hand he'd probably much rather come to Arsenal, given our long term interest in him and our better current standing and leadership.

Time to get James Maddison on a cheap. Just last summer we wanted him for about 70m. Should have half of that now once they are relegated.
