Are there any top left backs on the move in summer ... other than unattainables like Gwardiol.

I'd love it if we took a punt on a mobile, courageous and intelligent left back next window. Tierney has to go, and though Zinchenko fits the bill well as versatile squad depth, as soon as we upgrade Xhaka, Zinchenko's inverted full back role makes much less sense. He's defended poorly recently and looks like a player we can improve on.

Burnwinter Gvardiol has became predominantly a CB, but definitely Pep will play him at LB inverted crap.

I would love Theo here but he is very expensive. Hincapie will be a good option as he is also a CB and Arteta love that hybrid inverted thing instead of a proper LB.

Wish we got Estupinan few years ago though

I still don't understand why we don't try out Zinchenko in Xhaka's position where his link up play and passing ability can cause havoc and play Tierney at LB who can provide overlap support to Martinelli who often looks all alone.

Most baffling thing is having Tierney come on or start games and asking him to play like Zinchenko when he's a top overlapping LB.

If Bellingham is totally off the table now then something like:

In: Mount, Olise, Lavia, Bella-Kotchap, Fresneda
Out: Smith-Rowe, Balogun, Tierney, Lokonga, Tavares, Holding, Trusty, Patino, Norton-Cuffy, Marquinhos

looks pretty nice and pretty do-able too.

I think the 'ins' look massively underwhelming, and struggle to see how they'll move the team on next year. I'm just seeing a list of largely potential that I can't imagine Arteta trusting when the going gets tough.

I can just about get behind the argument for selling Smith-Rowe, but if he's not being replaced by a star player then I don't see the point. I'd rather keep him around than have Mount or Olise.

We've looked pretty nice this year. We haven't looked like absolute killers hell bent on the title. We don't need more pretty nice.

Or Valverde? I'd like him over Mount for the Xhaka position but they're probably not going to move anyone this summer, you would think.

Valverde would be the absolute dream. Arteta would love to have his versatility in the team in my opinion but I am pretty sure that same versatility is going to make it easy for Madrid to keep him and Camavinga and fit them into the team. Him in the Xhaka role would be absolutely insane though. His movement, workrate and ballstriking would add so much to the team.

He looks genuinely scared as he knows his limitations. Guy is a top fullback but expecting him to play like Zinchenko is nuts. He won't develop that close control and vision at this stage of his career. Should let him stick to what he's good at and in some games play him at LB while pushing Zinchenko further forward in the Dhaka role. Really think we're missing a trick not trying it out.

and few look as clueless as zinny trying to play fullback. sums up the problems we have in those 2 players trying to play this system. one works as a fullback and not a midfielder and the works in midfield, but not as a fullback.

For me if partey is injured etc. would I really trust a lavia in the champions league or to compete for the league? No

I'd have him as one of two recruits but my number 1 choice is rice.

Rightfully or wrongfully being the main man of West ham and an English starter, he already is accustomed to pressure. He'll be 25 in Jan. He'll force his move and there's no better chance for us to get him.

Zaha - coming towards the twilight of his career, but I recon he’d thrive here, and will give us character and qualities our attack needs to have the required depth to compete on all fronts next season

Depending on our budget I actually wouldn't mind this.. Can fill upfront also... Everyone seems to think we have unlimited funds but that wont be the case, central mid (maybe 2) and fullback are probably equally important area to strengthen so we may need to get a freebie from somewhere to make it work

If we are to sell Martinelli I’d want to get Diaby.

Regardless of that adding Zaha in to the mix would be a smart move.
