samthegooner I think the common theme in players I like right now is they can hit through a ball.
I really miss even the ball striking ability of Giroud in the current XI. That's saying something. Only Saka and Trossard have got the right level among those we see regularly. Looks like Nwaneri might have it in his evolution.
banduan I don't understand why people still want Nico Williams.
Gives me bad vibes at the moment. I lose interest in players when their agents are telling Barcelona and Madrid the money's not enough. We'd end up with stratospheric risk on his £350k wages.
Qwiss Also why do strikers need to be perfect but mids and defenders don't?
Starting forward signings need to have elite threat and end product given where we're at. Not so easy.
It's easier to bring in a competitor for Havertz than an upgrade for Martinelli. Havertz has less tactical relevance for us.
Any quality, productive centre forward would be a useful alternative to Havertz.
But Trossard is already a fine example of a player who's sharper at finishing than Gabi, but not someone you want to see starting regularly due to his lack of athleticism and his game not being so well integrated with Tetball.
Paradoxically, this is what means we can and should sell Martinelli, rather than Havertz. It's in Martinelli's case that a larger fee would be needed to lock in a transformative signing fit to displace him. And of the two, it is Martinelli who has plateau'd, which rarely changes after a player is benched and demotivated.
Havertz doesn't need to turn his development around, he needs to have his scoring responsibility reduced.
Meanwhile, we are screwed on depth up front till summer. Definitely would not say no to a Trossard level option with Jesus done and Sterling shit.
What Jesus gets paid (massive) versus what he actually does (minimal cut down to zero) remains the biggest problem in our squad.
