lorddulaarsenal Yep I've been sold for a while on him. I know the production isn't there this season but the talent is. Love how two-footed he is in addition to his ability 1v1 and in transition. Put him in a setup with a healthy Saka on the other side and defenses would be terrified.

I’m a big supporter of getting Williams in. Our team has tons of structure. Which is why we are typically hard to score against.
What we need more of is invention. And the ability to have multiple inventive players on the field at the same time. Not just Saka. This is what breaks down defenses.

Williams will also help with giving us more punch on counters. Too often we start a counter and then just slow down due to lack of options ahead of the ball. Everybody likes to be behind the ball.

The same issue will remain if we continue to play how Arteta wants us to. Especially if he is actually playing instead of Martinelli who is usually the one that's up there on his own on quick (by our standards) breaks.

Hate to say it but I think we need to have a serious think about Odegaard as well, too many times he gets the ball and takes too many touches on the ball and by then the transition is dead.

Others are guilty of that as well. Nowhere near as much one touch passing, everyone taking too many touches.

He may not be a free scoring wide player but he’s a man for the big occasion, has traits we lack and is the type of signing to get the fans excited.

Big Willie if both are on, instead of Trossard, it helps. Also if one or the other comes on to run at tired defenders late in the game, can also be an advantage

Claudius it's usually one of Trossard or Martinelli playing. The RW is Sakas, so it would be very rare or require a Saka injury to have them on the field at the same time. Unless one goes up top and we either drop Havertz, or pull him back into midfield and drop Rice.

Odegaard has been playing far too deep for my liking recently.

JazzG Trossards one touch pass to put Martinelli through to hit the post against Newcastle was great. Feels like we don't see nearly enough of that.

Big Willie it was very, very bizarre to watch him dropping to collect the ball almost as part of a back three, whilst Saliba pushed on almost into the right wing position on Tuesday night.

Qwiss I think part of it is instruction but part of it is construction. Haaland, Salah, Martinelli. All like to be in front of the ball. Get into space. Run into things. Most of our guys like to feel the ball and bring others in. It’s why I liked all the pieces of Nwaneri’s goal. He grabbed a ball that could’ve gone to Rice. And then later on took the risk of shooting instead of coming back to Rice.

RocktheCasbah I don't really mind him doing things like that but in a team where the other midfielders are Partey and Rice it doesn't make sense. If we want him to be the man doing that then we should have someone more attacking in the left 8 position. Maybe thats what we should do long-term and let Odegaard play deeper with Rice to compensate for his lack of play making ability.

Partey will be gone this summer. Arteta needs to figure who's the 3rd man in midfield with Ode and Rice who can lift us to another level. Because Merino isn't that guy and unless we recruit a world class new CF and LW I don't think a straight Partey replacement does it either. Rice and Odegaards goal contributions are way down this season, and obviously for Ode he's missed a lot of football but even with that he's doing less. Its a real problem, we need much more from the midfield in pure output terms.

I'd also look at Ademola Lookman.

JazzG We need to get in there and see if we can turn his head. He'd be an absolute game changer on the left for us. And if we can't get him, then see if we can get Barcola since he may be unsettled if Kvara comes in.

JazzG we are a much bigger draw than PSG.

I've repeatedly said I'd rather a striker but if a player of that calibre is available we should absolutely be in for him. Still just 23 as well. Perfect time to get him.
