goon £60m to break even if Lukaku went this summer. As you said, that well, largely of youth products will eventually run dry, but the limits on loans will also hit them too. They won't be able to carry such a large ownership of players on loan, and they won't be able to keep them all happy in the squad. So they may get a short term boost in the next year or two if they have to trim their squad size but it won't last forever and won't benefit them as a player trading model as it has until now.
RocktheCasbah With all the talk of Boehly's signings, Potter has barely featured in the conversation. I'd be amazed if these players are his personal targets, and fit a plan for how he wants to play. If he can't get a tune out of the orchestra Boehly has given him, which I hope he doesn't, and ends up getting sacked, it leaves little financial scope for the next conductor/mug to change things up. That brings us back to Goon's point about compliance with FFP - they'll struggle to get resale value near or above the fee they paid out of recent signings if they're looking to offload them in the coming years, and consequently struggle invest within FFP parameters.
