Have to say I know he hasn't been great but I'm pleased to see it. Always half worried that the likes of Cancelo would kick into gear in the second half of the season.

There was an indication on social media that 4-5 players are unhappy with Pep (I think over playing time). Might be a behavioural issue that led to the Cancelo loan.

Seems like a very odd move at this point in the window though. They already don't have great depth at fullback and now they're getting rid of Cancelo, who was one of their top players over the last two years even if his form hasn't been at that level this season. It's banking a lot on Rico Lewis, who has looked good but is still only 18.

Getting £70m for a player who you may not see in your long term plans is also brilliant business for them. Lewis, whilst fairly poor against us, does look fantastic. And Ake has been playing well.

I would say that bodes quite well for us in the short term though.

70 million euro, not GBP. Is it a mandatory buy option? They might not take it up if he doesn't recover his form, which would be the ideal outcome. It's a big chunk of change for a full-back who will be 29 by the summer.

Yeah does feel like something you'd just agree to so you can get the loan over the line.

City have been very good at selling at the right time though. Inflated commercial deals aside, it's one of the reasons why they've been able to keep net spend lower.

that move is kinda surprising for bayern. 70m for someone who will be 29 when the buy option kicks in. to me that's more of a reflection of how crazy inflated the market is than even us bidding 70+m for unproven 21 year olds.

Meatwad A high option to buy isn't any worse than not having one at all. Unless it's mandatory, those clauses can only be beneficial for the club that's loaning.

Gallagher is interesting. Gamble at 40m but I feel there's a player in there.

Feel like they've been playing Chelsea all along. Mental that they bought this guy for €10m just 6 months ago.

When Boehly said they'll have 1bn to spend on transfers I don't think anyone would have guessed it would be within 1 season.

Wasn't aware that he's just played 17 matches for Benfica, that's an insane number of games to raise his price from 10m to 120m, especially in the Portuguese league. Sure, he's played in the WC as well, but it's not like that's the highest standard either and even in that tournament I wouldn't exactly put him in the team of the tournament.

I guess the amount of information clubs have on players now is completely different than before. 20m players seem like bigger gambles than guys like Enzo and Moises. You just pay what it takes to get these guys.

KingslandBarge Nah it's not a bad investment for a club like Everton. He was excellent for Palace last season, scores goals and works hard. Young, England international too.

Coombs exactly. The market is crazy, play along or you risk missing out. Now all of a sudden alot of fans is saying Mudryk for 100m is reasonable

goon exactly. He was brilliant for Palace last season and he's only 22, a decent manager will get him to improve. I'd be surprised of Palace aren't one of the other interested clubs.
