Not sure that's true. He won't be on mega wages, is a better player, so if we do decide to get someone else in we'd be able to sell him quite easily, even if for a little loss. At 31, Norgaard won't leave until his contract is over.
The only factor would have been how content he'd be as backup. If he'd have been ok with it I'd deffo have him ahead of Norgaard and probably even Merino (who is slow and lacks agility) in the 6 position.
Actually now that I mention Merino, and looking at our squad, I struggle to see where he fits in. As a sub for Rice or a sub-sub sub for our first choice striker? And he's not ideal in either of those positions. As much as he's a decent player, it kind of feels like an opportunity missed there to get someone more dynamic and forward thinking.
