Don Pacifico If you'd told me the year we bought Jens Lehmann in the summer was the season we'd go unbeaten, I wouldn't have believed you.
It's correlation but not always causation.
If you’d told me the year bought Petr Cech, and only Petr Cech, in the summer when we were looking good as one of the favourites for the title, was the season we’d lose a league title to Leicester City, I’d absolutely have believed you.
Your Lehmann example is closer to the exception which proves the rule. I think Sicario’s somewhat misguided in his frustration at this point, but he’s absolutely right that we have consistently left ourselves short by 1-2 key players in most windows.
On the other hand, we’re all assuming, contrary to Sicario, that there is some progress on a striker. If we’re not in a fairly advanced discussion and getting towards the nitty gritty of a deal, I’d absolutely question why it’s taking so long when we’ve apparently been working on them for a year or so.
