Absolutely terrible show by the club for a thoroughly replaceable player. I'd rather bring in some green 19-year old or train Lokonga to play there rather than see Partey on the pitch in an Arsenal shirt.

JazzG I think moving both on makes a lot of sense. I think keeping Trossard and moving on Partey isn't too bad as long as we get an additional winger and Trossard slides into the Sterling role (but much better and used more). Holding onto both just seems like Arteta is afraid to refresh.
Sicario2 transition seasons are for the likes of United and Spurs. Not a team who finished second and are looking to push on. Artetas first 3 years were transition. Its time to get the squad right now so that it can compete for the next 5.
Sicario2 Why would it need to be a transition year? IMO Zubimendi will replace and improve on Partey and Trossard isn't even a first XI player. I do appreciate the argument that keeping two senior players in the squad will help with any new players coming in but finances are finite

Swap Jorginho and Sterling for Partry and Trossard and our squad depth will have instantly improved.

Giving a new contract to Partey is mad anyway. He's already in decline, do we really want to watch a 34 year old Partey plodding around the pitch?
We are in our winning window. Need to a) get the right people, and b) keep the squad healthy. The first aids the second, but one without the other will not get us to the promised land next year.

I want Partey gone but I think people are letting their personal feelings cloud their judgement of his ability. He's just come off the back of his best season in ages with us. For a 6 he's not that old and keeping him on for a season or two as backup 6 would be a no brainer if it wasn't for the obvious. He does stupid shit at inopportune moments sometimes but show me a second choice 6 that performs at a world class level all the time.
