Sicario2 Probably down to money or playing time, was always going to be hard to keep him here if he has to accept lower wages and less playing time.

QuincyAbeyie I think it's more likely we let MLS get more minutes there if needed and bring in someone like Hato. Or even just don't bring in Hato and use a combo of Rice/Merino/MLS in emergencies behind Zubimendi. Taking injuries off the table, a healthy Zubimendi is going to play a ton of games for us this year IMO so I don't know if having a designated backup is as important as having a couple of players who can provide cover.

samthegooner oh, I'm definitely glad to get that guy out of the club. I just don't think we're stronger with Zubimendi than with Zubimendi + Partey (it seems clear enough that we would've bought Zubimendi even if Partey ended up renewing).

Playing MLS at 6 feels like a quick way to ruin his development (momentum).

He's looking great at LB, and getting the cover (in game and after) necessary to help him develop. But he's also demonstrated a looseness with the ball and in tackle that will be badly exposed at 6. We also don't need his ability to beat the press at 6 as very few teams press us high, and those that do will be of a very high level ensuring MLS is up against it.

Neither of them would have started anyway. Zubimendi and Rice are going to be the first midfield names in the lineup.

There's an abundance of decent central midfielders in Europe if we need some cover. Just throw a stone and pick one that isn't too expensive.

Don’t want him anywhere near the club, but fair play to them if they’ve drawn a line under it and decided to look elsewhere with plenty of time to do something else.

Didn't even think of that, it would be sensible for the club to operate like this. End of the day he is a backup player if Zubimendi signs so we can't wait around for too long, give us ample time to find another player.

In fairness his contract would presumably expire by the end of the month anyway, think end of June is the standard.

Dom Heard he has not been very good and Juve have Locatelli, Thuram & McKennie in that position who are performing better.

Dom Didn't get much game time last season. He's on starter wages and only started 2 or 3 games. I don't know why he flopped so badly in Italy, he's not a bad player.

I'd happily take him, but on loan, since Juve are trying to raise money for Gyökeres and they're having difficulty selling Vlahovic. Stupid idea to give them half the cash.
