Sicario2 Why would it need to be a transition year? IMO Zubimendi will replace and improve on Partey and Trossard isn't even a first XI player. I do appreciate the argument that keeping two senior players in the squad will help with any new players coming in but finances are finite

Even if he does extend he will be missing for 4-6 weeks in Jan/Feb due to the ACON. Think we may need to get another CM even if Partey stays and we bring in Zubi. We need legs man.

samthegooner Personally I think we should be going for Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille who can learn behind Zubimendi but has world class potential at 6 or 8. Agoume would also be a good option.

Wonder how much he would go for, all the twitter tacticos love Bouaddi lol. Don't know much about Agoume.

Sicario2 Probably down to money or playing time, was always going to be hard to keep him here if he has to accept lower wages and less playing time.

QuincyAbeyie I think it's more likely we let MLS get more minutes there if needed and bring in someone like Hato. Or even just don't bring in Hato and use a combo of Rice/Merino/MLS in emergencies behind Zubimendi. Taking injuries off the table, a healthy Zubimendi is going to play a ton of games for us this year IMO so I don't know if having a designated backup is as important as having a couple of players who can provide cover.
