As a known Partey hater, I will admit that I thought Partey was very good in the first half and one of our best players. He and Rice were dominating the midfield and his calm on the ball was a perfect fit for that cauldron of chaos initially. I thought he faded a bit in the second half and Rice really exerted his influence on the game and was easily the MOTM. The yellow card was just classic braindead Partey behavior and while I want him gone for his off-the-field issues, those moments of stupidity just happen too often with him IMO. Hopefully, we can either slide Merino back and put Trossard as the CF or play either Calafiori or White at outside back and slide MLS centrally to cover for his absence in the first leg.

Too much at risk moving MLS in to midfield for PSG. No reason we should jeopardize our left back efficiency to (hopefully) solve another position.

Jorginho has to be the path, or possibly Rice if you really want our DM tracking their willing runners. Though I'd rather Rice continue with his "free(r)" role as an 8 than get shackled to being a 6.

I think we shouldn't really overthink this and just put Trossard in and have him and Martinelli rotate at CF and LW while Merino pushes back to CM. If Jorginho is healthy by then, I'd consider him as I feel like his athleticism deficiencies might not hurt him as much against their midfield but I think I'd rather just have Merino in the midfield with Trossard in the attack. It would hurt us a bit though since Rice would be more shackled but hopefully MLS inverting allows him to still get forward.

samthegooner It would be tough to lose Merino up top as a proper out ball, but I'm not sure there's a better way to go. Partey has really put us in a tough position, so so frustrating.

Still pissed off at Partey for that idiotic yellow card. WTF was he thinking!!! His absence makes PSG slight favourites IMO.

As for his replacement, I’d go with Jorginho if he is fit otherwise I’d go with MLS (closest thing to Partey in the squad). Yes, that means White at RB and Timber at LB. PSG are dodgy on crosses, so White could punish them with his delivery or presence in the box on corners and free kicks. Use the next two matches to try out this set up.

Rumors (hinted at by Arteta) that we could offer Partey another short term contract (i.e. 2 years perhaps). Im sure if this happens, thats gonna piss a lot of you guys off.

Football-wise, i wouldn't be against it as long as we still bring Zubi in.

USArsenal it makes sense from a squad building sense. He has been perfect for giving Declan scope to develop as a B2B with freedom to advance.
I would wish we are absolutely certain he’s being falsely accused however. Which is unlikely
