that's all well and good if we made our first offer and moved on. but going up to 95m instead of 100m doesn't make it look like we didn't try to go all in.

8.5 yrs is a crazy contract for a player to sign though. hopefully he has some achievement escalators built in because if he turns into the kind of player that is worthy of a 100m fee then he'll be drastically underpaid 3.5 years in.

Surely if a player is worth that much to us in transfer fees he has to be worth more than 50k in wages, that's nuts if that's what we offered and he wouldn't be wrong to take what Chelsea offered

Chelsea has gambled on their current crop of signings to be spectacular.

Leave the fees aside for a second. Players usually sign 4-5 year deals so they can negotiate bigger deals in 2-3 years. So to have players on 7-8 year deals the wages would be very high too.

Any player that doesn't work out is going to be a pain to get rid of.

Look at Sterling- City didn't want to renew on the wages he asked for. He was in the top 3 highest wages in the league when Ronaldo was there now he's top 2. Reportedly they want to get rid but he has 4 1/2 years left on a 300k+ deal. Good luck for them to get rid unless they give him on a free and subsidizing probably half his wages till he's 32.

In a world where Antony costs 100m and a Shakhtar player costs 100m, Paying 80 collective for Jesus and Zinchenko is a steal.

Gunner89 Agreed, Chelsea spending massive money for these project signings. Even though they're spreading the fees out if FFP enforced without CL football they're gonna find things tough so they better hope it all works out.

Defo don't think he should be booed, he'll be the one that misses out not us. Also we couldn't agree a deal with the club, should we be encouraging players to go on strike and force their clubs to sell to us? That is the type of shit Barca do.

Something about this deal doesn't sit right, I get the feeling there seems to have a bit of a political element to it. This donation to the arms forces seems good on the face of it but also wonder if they are pre-empting any heat about selling your player to a club built by Abramovich and his Russian money over us.

I don't think there is anything political about it, it's about leeches around a player securing the biggest payday for themselves that they can. So like 99/100 transfers.
