Yep. Can't boo or fault the kid. He clearly wanted to come here, and did almost everything he could to make it happen short of interviewing with Piers Morgan.

I saw a Chelsea journo on Twitter at the weekend wondering why the fuck they'd signed this kid that they probably don't need when they have much more pressing issues across their squad. He himself didn't exactly look thrilled at where he's ended up, but it is difficult to fault Shakhtar for doing what they have. Fucking Vladimir Putin man.

I wonder if we'll end up signing him in a few years time - hopefully not when he's just turned 32 or something.

The owner of Shaktar is super rich. This is just PR after you sell your best asset.

Shakhtar is just one of several things he owns.

They don't need money but are notoriously tough negotiators from getting 50m for Fred, 30m+ for a near 30 year old Fernandinho (Nobody could have assumed he'd have lasted that long), 30m for Mkhitaryan etc.

Gurgen Didn't previously know much about him, but if you look at what happened to his bank balance after Euromaidan it's pretty interesting and probably explains his motives.

Another really strange thing was the Shakhtar DOF being with Mudryk at Stamford Bridge, why the fuck would a selling clubs director be at the club celebrating his move?

Don't think that's weird. It's not like as if we sold our star player, smaller clubs are celebrating sales like these, they know that their club isn't the final stop for the best players.

Their owners probably worth more than ours, this ain't no small time club we're talking about. They're in the CL most seasons

If i recall correctly, I remember city was basically in pole position to buy Fred (considering they got Fernandinho and people thought he would be as good as him) and then Utd turned up to buy him with the bigger offer.

Too long to paste the article here from Forbes but most of his plants are destroyed and he's still doing humanitarian work and paying taxes for the entire country etc.

You don't have to be a big club internationally to be in the CL when you don't have much domestic competition for the spots.

And what are you even implying? What does it mean that one party in a record-breaking transaction is invited to the other party? And why does it matter that the club has done other transfers before without doing so?

QuincyAbeyie I'm not implying anything, it is very strange for the Shakhtar director to be at the unveiling after selling his star player. I can't recall this happening anytime recently.

Bryant They're a very hard club to do business with, fair play to them. At the end of the day they have to do what is right for them and their business model is about developing and selling players to the highest bidder.
