Defo don't think he should be booed, he'll be the one that misses out not us. Also we couldn't agree a deal with the club, should we be encouraging players to go on strike and force their clubs to sell to us? That is the type of shit Barca do.

Something about this deal doesn't sit right, I get the feeling there seems to have a bit of a political element to it. This donation to the arms forces seems good on the face of it but also wonder if they are pre-empting any heat about selling your player to a club built by Abramovich and his Russian money over us.

I don't think there is anything political about it, it's about leeches around a player securing the biggest payday for themselves that they can. So like 99/100 transfers.

If Shakhtar is donating about 25% of his fee to the war effort, and justifying his departure in similar terms then it's very political.

As far as Mudryk's concerned I'm glad he's out of it, wouldn't want to be the 22 year old lad caught up in the gestural politics of a brutal war. Seems likely he got strongarmed here—probably got a big hint about reputational damage.

QuincyAbeyie shouldn't be put in that position. Shaktar could have easily donated a bigger cut if they wanted, why is it on him to sacrifice his dream move over whatever small difference there was?

Reckon if you're a 22 year old whose next career move has suddenly become the MacGuffin of a war propaganda op, then aside from your politics, you're likely subliminally pissed off at being sacrificed to a strange 7 year contract with an inferior, shambolic club. But you're probably overjoyed to be blowing out of Shakhtar too.

QuincyAbeyie Yep exactly. Now that more facts are out, you can see how to poor kid is a victim of circumstances like what I have been mentioning previously. Chelsea even offered a friendly and donating the gate receipts to the war efforts etc.

It would be inhumane to expect him to stay put and reject Chelsea, reject that 100m cash for his club and blame him for not doing enough to come here.

Yep. Can't boo or fault the kid. He clearly wanted to come here, and did almost everything he could to make it happen short of interviewing with Piers Morgan.

I saw a Chelsea journo on Twitter at the weekend wondering why the fuck they'd signed this kid that they probably don't need when they have much more pressing issues across their squad. He himself didn't exactly look thrilled at where he's ended up, but it is difficult to fault Shakhtar for doing what they have. Fucking Vladimir Putin man.

I wonder if we'll end up signing him in a few years time - hopefully not when he's just turned 32 or something.

so £22m of the fee is going to the Ukraine war effort. i assume that's out of the guaranteed portion. we should have outbid chelsea then if they established from the beginning of the negotiation that's what they're gonna do.

The owner of Shaktar is super rich. This is just PR after you sell your best asset.

Shakhtar is just one of several things he owns.

They don't need money but are notoriously tough negotiators from getting 50m for Fred, 30m+ for a near 30 year old Fernandinho (Nobody could have assumed he'd have lasted that long), 30m for Mkhitaryan etc.

Gurgen Didn't previously know much about him, but if you look at what happened to his bank balance after Euromaidan it's pretty interesting and probably explains his motives.

Another really strange thing was the Shakhtar DOF being with Mudryk at Stamford Bridge, why the fuck would a selling clubs director be at the club celebrating his move?

Don't think that's weird. It's not like as if we sold our star player, smaller clubs are celebrating sales like these, they know that their club isn't the final stop for the best players.
