Clrnc Agree with you on the face of it. However to me Martinelli's gung-ho bulldog energy stands out even in this high energy Arsenal side. Obviously he was well marked and lacked support and space vs Newcastle.

It'll be very interesting to see how the two compare overall if Mudryk comes … 🙏

Martinelli’s dribbling is fine. It’s just a stylistic thing. He looks brutish, but he’s effective. Think back to the previous game. Saka’s goal, Nketiah‘a goal and Martinelli‘a goals all came from this brutish dribbling.

Claudius his dribbling is futsal style. Works better when there's space. Not saying it isn't good but there's another level to it.

He's in control of the football now which wasn't often the case two years ago when I couldn't stand watching him out wide.

I still think we need someone on another level, one vs one-wise when we struggle to break a team down like last night. Mudryk would appear to be that guy.

Claudius Chelsea making a lot of noise right now about outbidding us. They're run by idiots and I'm sure they'd love to outbid us and sign the player. I'm sure Shakhtar are probably loving this as well, probably egging Chelsea on.

At the moment it looks like the player only wants Arsenal.

If we pull out due to the price then I'm sure he'll want to go there even if we're his preferred destination.

They want 80 mil. Yeah, move on. Get a CM and loan Felix

2 rejected bids usually means there's a disconnect somewhere in the food chain between us, shakhtar and the agents. can't see us going back for a 3rd time

Where was it said the second bid was rejected?

      Gazza M

Would disagree - think it often takes a few bids to find a resolution. The fact there's been no public 'derision' from Shakhtar at any of our bids suggests they want to get a deal done so will be willing to negotiate. Imagine it's less about the fee and more about the structure of the deal at this stage.

Let’s see where it goes. These guys must sell this window. The player wants us. This is ours to fumble

Chelsea will get him if they want him by sheer weight of the money they'll throw at Shakhtar who will do what best for them , they'll tell Mudryk we won't pay up . Hate to say it but I don't think he will say no to Chelsea if we don't match the price

GooneriC they did this all summer and lost out on the large majority of their targets to the point where it became a meme.

Chelsea have no idea what they’re doing - but it can be damaging if they go and give Shaktar a figure that will strengthen their case for the ludicrous valuation.

This is where Mudryk needs to go on strike and say he only wants us.

goon remember how we used to be viewed as clowns in the transfer market. Chelsea are becoming that now. Except they have lots of dough to waste. They’re prepared to spend close to half a billion pounds with no clear strategy emerging and the team mired in midtable mediocrity. I love this new owner

Claudius unlike some other big spenders Boehly and co are investors so I can't see them sustaining this level of spending either. If so that means if they get all this wrong they'll be stuck for a while.

As long as our offer is reasonable and player wants to join us we stand a good chance. It depends on how keen the player is. Raphina only wanted Barca so Chelsea weren't able to do the deal. Likewise if the player stands firm and says he only wants to join Arsenal the club have a decision to make. They clearly want to sell the player which is why their trying to make this as public as possible.

Being top of the league and moving in the right direction will help!

The problem is that Raphinha would've gone to Chelsea if Barca and Leeds weren't able to make a deal. It was pretty clear that he was willing to go there but changed his mind when Barca became a real possibility.
Likewise, if Chelsea's stupidity raises Shaktar's asking price beyond our limits, I imagine Mudryk will go to Chelsea as he sees going to what is traditionally a top team in PL as a huge upgrade from where he is now.

How often is it the case though that the selling team dictates where a player ends up? Feels like 9/10 players have all the power there unless they’re indifferent.

All it would take is for Mudryk to tell Shaktar that he only wants us or tell Chelsea he’s not interested and he probably gets the move he wants.
