We are beginning to do this now with Nwaneri and LMS taking up squad space so when Arteta trust them more we can sell more of our fringe players and start bringing academy players through. It's already a good start loaning Vieira out and giving the space to Nwaneri

Clrnc the minute you saw Nwaneri play 8 and Vieira go to right wing consistently in the pre-season games, you knew Nwaneri had moved ahead of him in the pecking order. Arteta is a ruthless fucker

Claudius he was playing Vieira right wing at times from the bench at the end of last season too. It felt like a bit of a last chance to me but could easily have just been that he'd lost faith in him in the middle.

Vieira is done. I was surprised to read that he was player of the tournament in the u19 Euros in 2019 and u21 Euros in 2021 (Portugal were runners-up in both), so he arrived with decent pedigree.

Typical, that the one time we buy a Portuguese talent, it doesn't work out.

He’s got some brilliance in him (delivery, shooting, etc) but also some clear flaws for top level.

Don Pacifico even without the Bolton game its a hell of a schedule. I don't understand why we have to play Thursday? City are Wednesday, not to sound like Klopp but that doesn't seem very fair.

Think Quincy is right on this one. At least when it comes to the group stages.

UEFA have confirmed the fixture schedule for next year, with the vast majority of matches taking place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as usual.

However, the first gameweek of the campaign (September 17th-19th) will be a “Champions League exclusive” week, with no Europa League or Europa Conference League matches played that week

UEFA had previously confirmed that each European competition will get one exclusive gameweek, with only matches from that competition taking place in that particular midweek.

As a result, with no Europa League or Europa Conference League matches on Thursday, September 19th, some Champions League matches will be played that day instead.

The one other key date of note is January 29th, the end of the ‘league stage’. All 36 teams will play on that Wednesday, with no Champions League games on the Tuesday of that week.
