Was at the game yesterday and it was incredible atmosphere. Got there 2.5/3 hours before kick off and the tubes/pubs were rammed. I don’t know if it was the sun, whether it’s bank holiday weekend over here in the U.K. or just the fact the feel good factor is so high with Arsenal right now, prob a combination of the 3.
Some thoughts on the game:
1) Odegaard mom, outstanding leadership display. Thought Xhaka played really well too, defensively and offensively, was everywhere on the pitch, should have scored from that Jesus pass in the first half. Was constructing the players a lot esp when we were 2-1 up.
2)Thought that was Saka’s worst performance for us, was dreadful and looked tired and needing of a rest. That Fulham full back had him on toast.
3)Eleney - the drop off from Partey is too big. Elneny hid in the second half imo. Cowardly performance. Play Sambi there so at he can’t at least get the experience, he won’t be worst off than the Egyptian.
4)Eddie looked immense when he came on, looks faster and stronger than I’ve ever seen him before. He has to finish that chance though, that’s the difference between a good and great substitution display.
5) Fair play to Arteta for tactically changing that game around for us. I actually think he’s gotten better as a manager after the learnings of the last 2.5 years.
6)Atmosphere in the stadium was incredible. Haven’t seen as many fans stay at the end like they did, it was practically full. Long may it continue. We also getting some young ultras (about 30 of them all wearing black) in the lower end clock end who didn’t stop singing and shouting all game. Was like something you see in Serie A.
7)We MUST sign a CM and Winger if we want this season to be a success. Get those two and I kid you not, we can fight for the title.
