The links to Jesus excited me from the off. This one I am not sure of simply because I have no idea how we will fare with him in midfield. At least we will have a very capable option to Tierney, even though watching City I always found him to be the weakest link in their backline. Let's get that CM we so desperately need now.
I still think Zinchenko is primarily signed to play in midfied rather than FB cover. That said i also think we will see him in both roles during games depending on the opposition and tactical changes made in game. I also think the 5 sub rule will see an increase in intensity in the pressing from the front, and Zinchenko's greatest attribute is likely to be his technical quality and ability to retain possession - both in being able to beat the press and then his passing.
IMO I think the dynamic of both our Midfield and Attack has changed with the signings of Zinchenko and Jesus and I expect them to play quite differently to the way seen last season. Jesus as CF means opposition defences will not be able to push up on our forward line as seen with Laca as CF last season. We've already seen his willingness and capability to recieve the ball back to goal and to turn his marker and accelerate into space. This then creates space for the midfield to exploit and Zinchenko is better suited to do so alongside Odegaard than any of our other current CM options. I think his defensive numbers are perhaps better as CM looking to press than as an inverted FB looking to defend the flanks in a 1v1.
