aye, the LCM needs to be an energetic box to box type, with a bit of goal threat. if tielemans wasn't such a defensive slouch I'd be more on board with him, but we may have to settle for him warts and all

Not sure if Tielemans is bad at defending or he seem to just check out last season and lost focus.. Someone who can carry/drive the ball fwd is really needed in midfield.

Tielemans would be a sideways move. He'll be to Xhaka what Laca was to Giroud. The initial excitement of having someone different will quickly wear off once it sets in he's not a level above him.

As for Zinchenko. Excellent signing both as a LB and CM. Team is shaping up to be really good.

Feel the same way dd, but I've got extreme Xhaka fatigue at this stage. Just let him go, and let's give another player a chance to mess things up in a different way.

But yeah if LCM is the question, Tielemans doesn't strike me as the answer.

He's way better than Xhaka, its not close at all. 😆

Look at the stats though. I think I looked them up sometime in the past. Tielemans was better, but it wasn't day and night. Xhaka mostly suffers from a lack of athleticism and agility. Not his fault there, just like it wasn't Giroud's fault. But both players were able to make a good career despite that. However in Xhaka's case it costs us defensively as well as offensively when he has to play it safe because of his inability to get his feet sorted quickly enough.

I'm just ready for top quality in the middle of the park again.

Tielemens is better at almost everything. Better defensively, more progressive and dangerous passing, more goal threat, etc And thats before you get into Xhakas massive fuck ups that happen multiple times a season. Xhakas probably better in the air, thats about it.

That's the biggest issue with Xhaka. His overall play isn't even that bad, definitely serviceable, however his regular brain farts constantly end up costing us.

Like Kel said, Xhaka is too slow at everything he does. Completely ruins our tempo.

not a huge fan of tielemans, but in the advanced 8 role he's a much better fit than xhaka

Nice to see. Boyhood Arsenal fan too!

Pretty much don't mind that we sign players that City don't mind discarding every window. In 2 seasons time we probably can get, Mahrez, Cancelo and Rodri when they are sick of them. 4 years later KDB and Benardo will probably be available.

Excited to see what he’s going to provide. Think he’ll end up being another great signing.

From all accounts he’s an outstanding guy with a phenomenal character, something which has been a real trademark of our signings in recent seasons.

These announcement interviews are doing wonders for us Arteta acolytes too. You can almost see his eyes scanning the cue cards when he’s talking about how influential Mikel was in bringing him in. Great bit of PR.
