Could also see a change of shape back to a twin pivot in either a 4231 and/or 343 based system.

Not sure how Gabriel would fare as LCB in a 343.

Tomiyasu would be tailor made for the RCB spot though.

4-3-3 is definitely the way to go. Gets players further up the pitch on and off the ball and gives us far more central passing options. 4-2-3-1 was a recipe for horseshoe football with the way Arteta sets it up.

Looks better than I thought but that is probably because he is surrounded by lower quality players so stands out more....

I think part of it is that he makes things look simple therefore doesn’t get stand out kudos

This is probably true to be fair but that's not necessarily a bad thing, Sanchez looked average to me at Barcelona.

He's a good all around player and I've not really seen anything so far to deviate from that opinion. The one area where I'm thinking he'll be good is how 'busy' he is, especially in the box. Start contrast to Laca and Auba.

Funnily enough, I think him and Eddie look very similar stylistically. I think the formation we played for a bit against Everton is worth exploring a bit more if it means we can see a bit more of Eddie together.

Jesus big shortcoming at City was his finishing. Thats looked great so far in preseason but its always easier to finish when the stakes are lower. Obviously right now the stakes in general are lower at Arsenal so hopefully that can help him get his confidence up before the sharp end of the season when things will hopefully matter a bit more.

I don't think ESR has the nous, workrate or feel for tempo to play through the middle. better suited to the pires/Freddie wide attacking mid position

Yeah, he's definitely more of a forward. But in a situation where you need a goal it's a good way to cram in as many goal scorers as you can. Leave the creative play to Partey, Odegaard and Saka.

In which case I'd swap out ESR for Zivchenko and play him next to Partey in a 3-2-3-2.
