Only comparing the last 10 matches. Gyok has shown more recently to inspire some confidence compared to Jesus
If we were going to fairly compare Jesus and Gyok, Jesus shouldn't be getting any minutes let alone starts
Neither one of them should be starting. We need to pray Havertz comes back and isn't completely fucked!
Jesus for his flaws has come off major injuries and shown he can be a top class PL footballer, showed it at City and for us. Gyokeres on the other has not and I've seen much to suggest he will be top class for us.
I've yet to see anything from Jesus recently that suggests he'll be anywhere near a top class PL footballer.
Tam i'll go a step further and say i've never seen anything from him in an arsenal kit that suggests he'll be anywhere near a top class PL footballer. and that includes the mythical start of the season up until the world cup break where he was supposedly the best striker in the world. then again i'm weird and biased in that i like strikers that can score goals.
daredevil merino's lack of running is less dangerous up top since he can actually carry out one of the primary functions of a striker: goal scoring. such a sad state of affairs, he's the only i don't dislike bordering on hate.
Tam Fair comment but as he has been out for a very long time I am willing to be a bit more lenient with him because it takes times after a long lay off. I don't think he is a first team player for us but happy to keep him as backup.
RocktheCasbah Agreed, there are a lot of things he doesn't do well as a CF but his movement is very smart and a good finisher so has proven to be very decisive upfront for us.
I think I'm at a point now where I'd rather have Merino up top then either of them. We've got to get him in the team somewhere and nobody wants him to play midfield.
Gyokeres has worked up until now and should have started yesterday. We should stick with him until Havertz returns. I like Merino up top but he can't run.
If he scores a goal like that every fortnight till end of season I'll change my mind on him.
Burnwinter If he scores a goal like that every fortnight till end of season I'll change my mind on him.
not if he's also missing sitters like some of the chances before. truly an annoying player.
He's 29 in April, with notable injury issues and on 200k+ a week with one year left on his contract
It'll be his last sizeable contract
Whatever the outcome of the season, wish him well and sell
99% agree. But we'll find it very hard to get anything at all over his next season's wages of £15m or so for him. Even to get that would be fortunate after the discounts for his bodily and psychological weaknesses.
Call Nottingham forest. Get Edu on it.
Yes with his injury record, priority should be to sell and replace with a top striker.
But the idea that he is shit, can't contribute and shouldn't be option is nonsense.. especially considering the alternatives we have.
Doc
With all the strikers moving last season - don't really see who is out there. I like Alvarez but I'm not sure he's a lone striker.
banduan I can live with him having annoying misses if he produces those goals even semi-regularly. Historically he hasn't. Hopefully he does now, he's got his next contract and maybe even the World Cup to play for. Should be enough motivation.
Came on last night and did literally nothing. Not a single pass, shot, tackle, etc Arteta cannot keep giving him minutes if we want to win things this season. He shouldn't even be on the bench.
Qwiss Agree. He's toast.
Games like last night are crying out for a 4-4-2 with Gyokeres and Havertz up front, not a non-entity like Jesus.
I forgot this useless guy came on. Did he even do anything
tazmania I forgot this useless guy came on. Did he even do anything
Honestly, and I mean genuinely honestly, I can not remember a single touch he had.
