Claudius Potter is now a card carrying member

Potter's no Tuchel or Nagelsmann, he's never won the Champions League or been sacked from Bayern in the middle of yet another Bundesliga season that's a laydown misère. Going to Spurs to fail to get top four won't help him get into that little clique. A clique which often seems full of grifters and fakes to me.

I think taking a look around the Premier League in summer, or even next summer after spinning some comeback narrative would suit him fine. If I were Potter, I might enquire about coaching a women's team that was in pole position to win something big next season, and go try to do that, restore a bit of mystique to my profile.

Surely one of the PL clubs will go for Postecoglu? I thought the age of them going for the Hodgson's of this world was over, but maybe they'll have to wait to the summer in order to get their actual candidates.

I'd add that it sounds like he's suffered a fair few tests to his mental health whilst at Chelsea too. To that end, there's probably some relief in being sacked but hope for his sake that he takes time to recover. Football, even if it's your job, just isn't that important.

Burnwinter completely agree with this mate. Man U have always been my most hated team for all the reasons you identify. I get why the spuds are probably more hated by those in the UK, but there are barely any tiny totts here (especially prior to last few years) so for me the nth London rivalry is less present.

No doubt a lot of us who switched on to football at around the start of the Premier League era feel the same, UK or otherwise.

I think the day I became aware that Tottenham Hotspur existed as a concept was the day of the 1987 FA Cup Final they lost to Coventry City. So they've been a clown act forever.

Spurs were so consistently midtable when I started paying attention properly in the early 90s they barely mattered. Even since they've become (it's rumoured) a better run club, they've never bothered me. United under Fergie is something totally different. It's like having to beat Sauron to win the league every year.

Believe it or not even in London the United fans far outweigh the Spurs fans, at least back in my School days. Evens out a bit as you get older but I only know about 5 Spurs fans compared to dozens of United fans. The Spurs lot are mostly pretty reasonable too, the United fans on the other hand are a collection of the most deluded, entitled, arrogant and stupid fans out there.

It's true. I think I personally only know 2 possibly 3 Spurs fans. This despite me knowing tons of United fans, obviously loads of Arsenal fans, and a fair number of Chelsea/Liverpool fans.

Potter was always massively overhyped. He trades on underdog status - e.g. look how "brave" this little club is on the ball, etc. - when all of his teams have also been snidey, kicky, fouly, cheaty, and fundamentally bad at actually winning games.

I liked Potter, but probably because he seems like a decent guy. His biggest indictment is probably not what he did at Chelsea but the fact that Zerbi is actually outdoing him in Brighton, which makes Potter seem less of a genius all of a sudden.

FEBravo I've seen this mentioned and I'm not sure I agree.

Brighton were 4th when Potter joined Chelsea, which although quite early on in the season suggests that he could well have them in the same position they are now.
The team de Zerbi is succeeding with was more or less built by Potter - he constructed those foundations, so difficult to argue that the former's success would occur without the work of the latter.

Clrnc I'd take United over Spurs. United seem the same in or out of the CL. Doesn't effect their spending, their pull or their ability to still be shit.

Spurs on the other hand will really struggle if they drop out now and probably get replaced long term by Newcastle in the top 6.
