TBH at this stage of the team I'm not adverse to getting players who are both EPL ready and 'fit for purpose', in a team that plays the same style and they are also known to our manager. That was absolutely wrong selling van Judas to United. We literally handed them the title with thay move. Would have probably won it ourselves had we kept him. We had a really good team that year. Just no striker.

AW said he knew doing so would give MU the title as they lacked a world class goal scorer. He also said despite that he didn't consider we were amongst their peer level along with the likes of CFC, and we were not in contention to win the title.

That's probably some bullshit after the fact justification for that mistake. Either way, even if we weren't good enough to win the title evem with vam Persie (and with the players we brought in I think we could have had we had him in the team), we absolutely should not have sold him to United. Anyways fuck that disloyal rat.

Not our priority according to Athletic as we are still focused on having Xhaka in our midfield.

Either way IMO it was the moment we said to the rest of the football community we admitted we were no longer in any conversation about being title contenders, and that our ambition/capabilities were no more then top4 and UCL Group Stage. I also think we're still very much viewed in that same status.

The players moving to City and the likes aren't the ones where I think "why didn't we get him instead?", as they'd never choose us. Bissouma, De Jong etc. is another matter.

Not when City is in for them, sure. But we've needed a leftback since at least January. Why haven't we been working on Cucurella since then? Bloke's everything we've dreamt of on that position.

Didn't he join Brighton last summer.

Not sure why they'd let him leave in 6 months and in Jan.

By then there was already murmurs of a city move in the summer anyway.

The chance to get him was last summer.

It's not a jab, we sign more obvious players generally because we have bigger spending power. They sign more unknowns and obviously have a very specific scouting system. Look at the players they signed for modest fees and then became a success (some still on loan but already playing for their NT), nobody heard of them much previously.

Bissouma, MacAllister, Trossard, Lamptey, Moder, Caicedo, Cucurella, Undav, Mitoma, Mwepu, Cucurella

They also just signed apparently one of the biggest south american talent in Enciso for 10m pounds.
