As we'll be playing in multiple competition's next season, I predict over 20 goals across them, if we manage to land him.

We need roughly 40+ league goals from whoever is our nominal starting forward line. Whether that's 20 goals from a striker and 10 from each wide forward, or 13-14 goals shared equally among them, I don't think it matters in the end. Jesus seems like a signing for the latter option.

Jesus will have to deliver if he comes here. If the last decade has taught us anything it's that Lacazette and Giroud levels of talent and end product aren't going to be good enough to achieve anything. It'd be a poor use of resources to spend €60 million on a player who gives you a return of 10-12 league goals. It's not just next season that will get ruined if you get these decisions wrong. Chelsea can afford to sign a fraud like Werner and then see him flop, but can we?

I'm not impressed with the way he's failed to step up at City since Agüero left. Skillset is good and the talent is alright, but I don't think he has the mentality and drive to really assert himself. 8 league goals last season, and four of them came in the same game. He played for a club without any other strikers and still struggled for playing time.

I worry that he'll have a few good months for us and then tail off once he realises that he'll have to work much harder at Arsenal than he had to at City. He's used to having others paying for his fine dining and now we're asking him to work for a regular meal. I think it's a risky situation.

Oh, and it sounds contrived because your idea is contrived. You talked about how it's better than what we can get without any encouragement from me, I literally just pointed out that those are the numbers we complained about for years with the donkey upfront (and worse than what we got from the striker we shunned a few months ago). A strawman would be the opposite, me commenting on something you haven't said.

the only way I can explain it is the club is banking on synergy to globally lift goal tally of the front 3. everyone with a starting berth in the front 3 needs to pitch in around 15 league goals for example, share the burden evenly. it's a bit of hailmary of a strategy if none of the players have hit those numbers in their career

Agree with what Klaus is saying as well. For me he's a support player for top clubs not the main striker. Good player but I am not convinced he can lead the line for us.

I get the feeling that him and Raphinha are redundant to be honest. It might be partially because of what Vickery said there, Jesus does feel more like a support striker or winger whenever I've watched him. Not a main striker.

I'd just throw half the Raphina money at it and get Osimhen, That'd still be £30m odd for a back up winger, surely we can find someone decent for that?

Raphina is no more consistent. He scored 1 goal more than ESR this season in a thousand more minutes. It just seems like he does more because you are paying less attention, plenty of games he went missing this season.
