I like Gabriel Jesus. He's an all round solid player. He's also tenacious, aggressive, and gets into good positions.

I think he'd be a fine deadline day signing if we didn't get someone better. But yeah, little worried that we seem to be setting our summer ambitions as Jesus and Tielemens. Both feel more like Europa League players than CL players at this point.

I have no strong feelings about Jesus either way but I don't think you can simply cast aside the experience he has so easily.

Additionally, I'd be surprised if anyone outside of Arsenal fans think Nketiah is superior.

come on. jesus may not be everyone's cuppa, but there's levels between him and eddie presently, based on experience alone

I'd happily take the bet that Eddie will outscore Jesus next season, even if he ends up at a smaller club.

The difference in the end might come down to the fact that Eddie's trajectory is pointing upwards. Jesus by contrast seems to have plateaued out, and it's not a particularly high plateau. If you can't score goals at Pep's City how are you going to score them for Arteta's Arsenal?

I'm on the same page as Klaus here.

Jesus played well over double the amount Eddie did, in a much more creative and attacking team and yet he only scored 3 goals more for the whole season. Maybe Eddie will flop if we give him a chance but I'd rather take that chance than pay a load of money and a big fat contract to Jesus to score 12-15 goals next season.

That's how I feel too. I just know we're gonna sit here a year from now with an underwhelming Jesus and feel a twinge of regret over how Eddie is bagging goals for Brighton or Palace, and some people will say that it's easy to judge in hindsight. I think it's easy to judge right now. If we behave like this in the market we have learnt nothing, and it's not going to end well.

The problem with Jesus is he doesn’t really stay in the box, he goes out wide and isn’t particularly a great dribbler.

Reminds me of Walcott.

Whereas Nketiah has a lot better movement.

Jesus is definitely a hell lot better than Nketiah cmon guys. It's not even close. Just because Pep mismanaged him doesn't mean their levels are the same.

That said we need someone very different to lead the line so if Nketiah signed then we need go all out for Nunez or Psimhen

Liverpool were rumoured to be interested in Eddie for what it's worth, along with several other clubs.

Conversely, one could wonder why no Champions League club seems to be interested in Jesus, because you can bet that he wouldn't want to come here if he had any better options. He's a second-rate forward who couldn't stake a claim at a club with no strikers this season. His one distinguishable quality is that he's playing for Manchester City, which isn't a quality at all really; it's a circumstance.

There isn't one credible Liverpool link to Nketiah.

Several other midtable clubs that have credible links yes.

Not a huge fan of Jesus either mind (as a forward) but as an option in the front 3 he's much better than anything we've got (which isn't saying much)

If we are to challenge for the title, which lets be honest is what we all want, then we need a midfielder on the Cesc/Ozil level and a striker on the van Persie/Sanchez level. Failing that, even if we secure CL football, we will get our arses handed to us.

I think they're banking on young players developing into that but only Saka and ESR appear to have the potential to reach that level and ESR is sidelined half the time.

Surprised not more talk here

He seems to be a goer

As a winger he's better than all our wingers.

Forward works super hard maybe that's the appeal but don't see it unless we add another forward and goalscoring winger.
