It's damning for sure. I feel like we should either go for players who are clearly a tier above or just keep backing our own lads like Eddie, Smith-Rowe, Maitland-Niles, etc. Transfers are absolutely needed to improve the overall quality of the team, but these sideways moves gotta stop. They cost a lot of time and money and they rarely pan out in the end. If your scouts think they have found a new Tomiyasu then by all means go for it, but I don't trust these transfers like Jesus, Willian, Luiz, Sterling, et cetera where we buy someone based on their status and not their current ability. They feel like they aren't being negotiated in good faith.
There's a small chance Jesus might prove me wrong here because he's much yonger than the other ones I mentioned, but I really don't think so. I think he's going to be another Lacazette or Welbeck. We should stop doing Chelsea and City favours by taking these players off their hands. They turn into level caps for Arsenal after a while.
