His ruthlessness is probably a good contributor. I also respect that one of his central tenets seems to be vigilance and responsiveness to the team needs in the moment, and being spontaneous with his match day talks. Its a harder, riskier road (esp. for someone so seemingly meticulous and dogmatic having to bite their lip) on the way to being a top manager. Its also refreshing to hear the squad requires a different approach to management this season; it seems that way from the outside.
Felt a few cliches, corporate-y strategy thoughts in there, and the odd excuse. He failed last season and I wasn't totally convinced on the responses around it. Personally didn't think there was anything particular special about asking more from Xhaka. Patino is going to rock that position/our midfield once he's soaked in 1-2 years of development. Makes me unbothered about Bellingham sweepstakes.
Cryuff as inspiration was lovely to hear into existence. I've been feeling like our decision making and cohesion is so good (or capable of being so so good) that we will show characteristics of total football more vividly in the weeks ahead. Having seen ingredients and moments in the last calendar year. Highly optimistic I know. If not soon, maybe next season.
