Osimhen was out for some time at Napoli with a series facial injury = why he wears the mask.

OK here's my spin on the recent comments re Jesus as CF.
IF the 40m price is correct then IMO we do look to sign him AND a top proven CF AND a top level CM.

We made a bid for Lautaro last summer so I don't see anything as having changed enough to not do so again. IF Inter sign Dybala they will need to sell again to balance their books re FFP etc, more so about their wages as Dybala will be a free agent. IMO the key to signing Lautaro is all about Inter being in a position where they need to sell, as that will likely reduce their ability to inflate his transfer fee unlike the likes of Osimhen or Nunez. Bottom line if things play out then Lautaro could be available for about the same money as Haaland's release clause or less.

Even if we did sign Lautaro for a bargain fee I'd still look to sign Jesus, but not as the back-up CF = I'd sign him to replace Pepe and start on the flank, even if it meant Saka moved back to the left side. IMO Jesus @ 40m puts him in line for what we may need to pay to replace Pepe.

I'd also look to sign a planB option as cover/rotation at CF, and this is where DCL becomes an option if Everton need to sell for a reasonable price as per Inter & Lautaro, but I'd look elsewhere if they do not need to sell. If we did sign both Lautaro and Jesus then IMO we can afford to sign a less proven/establish player as CF cover, and this is where someone like De Ketelaere becomes an option as possibly signing the likes of a Haaland/Vlahovic/Isak/Nunez before they have their break out season and gain everyone's attention.

If all this came to pass then IMO Nketiah is not suitable as cover CF because he is too muck alike and we already haver Martinelli who is also in the same type of CF. IMO Nketiah is more suitable if we were to sign the likes of Schick/Nunez/Haaland as starting CF.

I still think Jonathan David is an option as perhaps being an 'Osimhen-lite' type, but much would depend on the fee Lille would want for him.

I do think the work rate and defensive contribution attributed to the likes of David, Jesus and Lautaro will be a factor in their favour.

I think he's more of a goal threat, and I'd also put Martinelli ahead of ESR in terms of playing from wide for much the same reasons.

This season to date in all comps:
Jesus has 13 goals and 9 assists in 38 games = 22 goal actions;
ESR has 12 goals and 3 assists in 37 games = 15 goal actions.

I'd also prefer to have ESR playing through the middle of the pitch as opposed to playing from wide, however in either position I do not think he is starting level re top4 as yet, but he is more than capable of coming off the bench in most circumstances.

Jesus played half his games at CF so I'm not sure you can compare his total goal haul to ESR like that. Plus he's playing with DeBrunye, Sterling, Mahrez, etc while ESR is playing with Xhaka and Laca. Smith Rowe is also 21 and improving. Gabriel is 25 and unlikely to develop much. If we sign Jesus to play on the wing its an even bigger mistake than signing him to play up front.

Not this season = he's has 12 starts as RWF and 6 as CF. He's played more games from off the bench as anything.

Yes ESR is improving and I think his ceiling is likely to be higher than Jesus, however IMO our current forward line is not good enough as yet to retain top4 and play UCL as the starting options across both domestic and UEFA comps.

As for playing on the flank I would only do so if his fee was small enough that we didn't need to go after the likes of Gakpo etc, and we signed a proven top quality CF.

Jesus could go up a level as our CF but I agree with qs he'd be a catastrophic signing if he were to play on the wing. We have Pepe who's a much bigger threat from wide rotting on the bench, we have ESR who plays that position very well not getting enough minutes then we go ahead and pay 40m for a player who's not a learned winger and whose only attribute for the position is his half decent pace.

Using the same site in the EPL he has 12 as RWF and 10 as CF.

He'd not be playing as a winger on the flank but more akin to the role seen with PEA and Martinelli as basically our 2nd ST.
That said there is talk that Guardiola would likely veto any approach to sign him from us.
I suspect Pepe does not play because he does not do the work off the ball when we are not in possession, whereas Jesus, Lautaro and David are recognised for their defensive / pressing contributions.

Was watching Roma Leicester last night and Tammy Abraham really impressed me. Very good at holding the ball up, is agile and has pace, can get past his man and very good in the air as well being technically proficient.

Need to see a bit more but looks like he’s improved a lot under Jose.

He’s excellent. Would love him here. Will improve with age too - if he fills out a little he’ll be such a nightmare for opposing defenders.

Mourinho does not want to sell him and Roma apparently have double his transfer fee from what they paid for him.
That said I had seen a comment CFC have a buy back option for a little more than they sold him for, and they could do so to either replace Lukaku or to then sell him at a higher price towards funding a rebuild.

allegris dinosaur tactics and a lack of creative support don't seem to be helping matters. Chiesa getting injured pretty much when vlahovic signed was a big blow

IMO Nketiah's recent success shows what Arteta is on about when he says he wants goals as the priority from his CF. Additionally Eddie has now scored at least 2 goals as a direct result of his pressing from the front, and this will be another indication as to what Arteta wants. This may give us a better indication as to the type of CF Arteta wants, more so a pressing forward rather than either a false9 or Deep Lying Forward.
