I guess I just feel that Jesus isn't hungry anymore. He's been too comfortable being Pep's bit-part player and it has dulled his attitude. For instance, I thought he was going to step up when Agüero went to Spain to retire, but how many starts has Jesus made since then? A handful? He's in his mid-20s and he has wasted his career on the bench, no matter how much he has won off the back of teammates.
Looking beyond his ability on the ball, which I'm a big fan of, it just seems like this is gonna end up badly. We've seen the difference in the last decade between a striker who has the fire to score goals and also-rans like Giroud and Laca who can only perform a little now and then. We can't afford to replace Auba with another one of those, especially in a club environment where things are not as pleasant as they are at City. You're essentially asking Jesus to work harder for less, when throughout his career he has had to work comparatively little for his goal tally and his trophies.
