Arteta will be gone unless he gets us back into consistent winning form, surely. I think we'll be getting our shit together for a good while after that though.

We have good players. We had good players last year too.

We have a terrible manager who is failing badly.

I think those two points stand up to serious scrutiny by any measure.

Absolutely. Last season Chelsea and Liverpool were pretty shit.

And Chelsea and United were pretty rubbish the year before too. That's not really an Arteta issue, but shows the folly of waiting too long to pull the trigger. Emery should have gone after his first season, and the same applies to anyone else who doesn't meet what they keep telling us is the standard.

You can't put our form after Christmas on Arteta while lamenting the quality of the players he had at his disposal.

Yep. Even if the top 4 is as strong as everyone predicts this season we should get a new man in now so we're ready to strike as soon as one of them falls out. Which they will. Another season without proper European football will make signing replacements for Auba and Xhaka next summer harder too, we can't keep waiting around hoping Arteta eventually comes good.

Don’t want to go down the frequent destabilising hire and fire route Spurs go down. To get to the heights we need to follow a mid to long term strategy. Arteta has that and he’s getting in excellent players to fit that plan - there’s a ways to go, but I bet when the time comes to replace Lacazette and Auba - we’ll get much better players who are a better fit too.

Absolutely. We cannot keep dropping our standards just because the manager can't meet it. I know this season is a write off but next season we must absolutely get back into top 4.

You honestly think we'll get a better player than Aubameyang without even a semblance of success on the horizon?

We'd be delighted if any of the new signings get close to Aubas level. It'll take a minor miracle for us to replace him with anyone even close.

Whether the players fit the plan remains to be seen too. I personally like how the squad is shaping up and that's a definite benefit of having some stability, but I'm sceptical on whether we'll see that transmit to performances. Arteta has this weird quality of producing the same sort of performance regardless of the lineup or opposition.

Yep stats to do the talking. He's one of the top 5 forwards in this league still and I trust the team will underscore that in support of him this season with greater propensity for CBs and GK to play out to him, and with a overall better pool of five attackers and assist makers we are able to play around him.

Need 12+ before AFCON from him.
