I can understand why people would try to block out the negativity and just focus on whatever positive there can be found. I can't understand why that requires making excuses for the manager though.
Surely you can be excited about Tomiyasu, Lokonga or even Ramsdale looking like good players and still acknowledge that this team should be playing much better football, which is largely down to the manager. We're getting outperformed by loads of teams with fraction of our resources. There isn't a single element of our game that is up to the required standard ffs.
Or don't acknowledge that, but that doesn't mean that we have to pretend that it's all some great master plan of Arteta's and we're just a few tweaks away from competing at the level we were just a few years ago. We're not.
