I was a fan when he was in Italy but wouldn't have expected him to take to the league so quickly, you can tell he's a centre back at heart but his athleticism allows him to look great even wide.

I'm just making the comparison because you can see so clearly how differently they play the same position. You didn't fancy Son once to beat him one-v-one, Bellerin could be beaten by the ballboy one-v-one.

Yeah I got you I'm just saying you're comparing one player who was either crashing or already reached his nadir to one on the way up. Bellerin was 20 in his first or second season when he had a great game vs Douglas Costa and Bayern in a 2-0 win in the CL, he was a great player for many years. He was at the club for ten years and played some 250 games for us, let's keep it classy.

Anyway back to TT if he plays like this and Tierney finds some form we have a good back four to build on.

It's so much more important to have fullbacks operating like this rather than the alternative where you drop a failed winger into some kind of auxiliary role. I'll never understand why modern football has been more obsessed with halfassed attacking players than defenders who can cut off space and keep crosses out. Zambrotta and Thuram should have been the template.

That's well said. I will act accordingly actually because you're right, there's no need for it.

Tomiyasu is a bloody class act and that's the only important point.

That's selling Zambrotta short mate. Guy is very good in supporting attacks and getting great crosses in from both flanks.

Like Ramsdale, so easy to love and I am sure he is a manager's dream too. If Arteta has to try and motivate a team before a game, he has one less player to try and get focussed because Tomiyasu will go out there and give it his all no matter what.
