I love the look of Takehiro tbf, but like Captain said, we could have done this deal back in June if we wanted him.

Was hoping we’d sign another centreback.

Couldn’t stomach seeing Holding, Mari or Chambers regularly play for us.

the only way the tomiyasu signing makes any sense is if we plan to switch to 3 ATB again. and if arteta is scrapping our formation 3 games into the season to go 3 ATB...

i guess maybe playing white, tomiyasu and gabriel as three centerbacks to stay back, while using tierney and saka as wingers instead of wingbacks, could add something going forward.

of course, our central midfield is still a complete disaster, so it really doesnt matter that much

This guy has been wishlisted a bunch of times if I am not mistaken - he's been offered to the Clarets reportedly.

AMN is staying and will be reintegrated to the first team. Have a sneaky feeling we will play more 3 ATB. All our players that we signed fits 3 at the back. White is weak aerially so we get a monster in the air Tomiyasu to cover. And that also explains why we didn't bother with a CM anymore, while keeping Kolasinac for LCB.

i still hate it, because playing 2 central mids is just not something i want to see, but i could live with this.

That lineup blows. We're too shit/out of form throughout the XI we need the most we can get of Saka's quality further forward up in attack.

If so, someone like Tomiyasu shouldn't have been left to the last moment.

I'd broadly sign on to this, except that I'd like to see Saka on the left and AMN as the right sided midfielder. Also, the central defender of the 3 has to be Holding I'd guess. Can't have 3 relatively inexperienced CBs in that back 3 and all similar front-footed defenders. Holding has to hold this together. I still think a 4-2-2-2 maximizes most of our assets though.

That's only a relevant discussion if Emerson wanted to come here.

If we enter into the race when Spurs bid for him of course we might not stand a chance.

But early in the window Barca wanted to get rid if a good fee can be reached and there were no takers yet, that was our moment. Can't imagine he would rather play for the reserves there than join us since they can't register him

But we've seen how that plays out. The player and his agent are usually prepared to wait it out, because they'll know other clubs hold an interest, even if they're yet to bid.
