Why not give him a chance though? Why take a position before he even gets to pull on his gloves for us? Have you closely followed his career prior to him joining us?
You can hope that he does well and still call it as you see it. He's young, ridiculously expensive and looked well dodgy whenever I've seen him, but the most worrying thing is even if he does have some talent we don't know about why would he look good when Leno turned to shit working with our current goalie coach?
I don’t know. Did Leno turn to shit because of the goalie coach? Did the goalie coach train him to no longer watch his near post? Or that he shouldn’t be more physical and aggressive coming for crosses? Or that he shouldn’t make better decisions when passing out the ball?
Leno’s major strength is his one v one shot stopping. He’s supposedly wantaway now, and I’d look closer at that as responsible for his recent poor form than anything else tbh.
It’s a tough enough job and environment already, we don’t have to add to the burden with a tough crowd and tough love. That won’t do anything for his confidence, and GKs need that. Every Gunner’s favorite goalie Emi Martinez didn’t look especially good before his breakout season 2 years ago. I’m prepared to be patient with Ramsdale and see what he’s actually about before I draw conclusions.
