JazzG Odegaard has parts of his game currently that have gone to complete shit and that in turn is destroying the parts he still does right. Those silky touches, turns and even the delaying of the pass were all part of Odegaard's game last season and the one prior - simple difference is that he's not taking advantage of them like he was before. That's where it's all falling apart. Last season, one of those silky touches that affords him abit of space - that tonight, and in many other games, lead to a disappointing turn-over - would often lead to a clear cut chance on goal for a team mate, a ball for someone presented with a great opportunity to assist, or even a shot on goal himself.* Odegaard at his best was delaying the pass you were calling for at your TV, and then the second one too, only to out of nowhere slip someone in on goal with a pass you hadn't seen or hadn't yet developed until Odegaard gave it time to.
Talk we have outgrown him seems a bit wild to me too. He's been a major factor in the growth we have had over the last 3 years and this season he's been a bit shit, but .. we've been very disappointing on the whole, guys. That kinda suggests to me the very opposite of having outgrown him.
We need to do work in the summer but I don't think it should be to replace Odegaard. People have very short memories. He's the worst captain in the world right now apparently, didn't really hear/see anyone saying that the last two seasons though. Funny that. He deserves some time to turn it around and get it right and I think he will - and some much needed additions in the summer will facilitate that.
*Yes I realise his shooting has been shite this season but this is just another example of a part of his game going to pot. He looked lethal last season, especially when arriving late, scoring some goals that were truly get finishes that you don't score if you can't shoot/finish.
