Thought he did alright myself. Kept the ball in a few tight situations well, pressed well and started a couple of our better moves. And the assist was superb.

Agree. He made some silly mistakes but he's great

Yeah, the spaces he occupies and his pass selection seems perfect most of he time, he enables our attack. My biggest gripe with him is how weak he is under physical pressure and Liverpool hounded him like they do usually. He struggled a little to cope.

I love this guy more than Ozil. He doesn’t have the artistic expression of the German, but I’d a much more complete midfielder. I think he will best playmaker in the league once KDB declines.

He's been really poor in the second half yesterday, head visibly dropped at some point. Happy with him overall and definitely happy we went for him over Maddison but he's still inconsistent. Not worried about him though he's got everything to succeed physically technically and mentally.

Perhaps playing with too much self doubt as was on a yellow, and was scared of any potential contact from there.

He had two good chances early in the second half and messed both up, probably lingered in his mind for a while and the booking didn't help.

It's one thing Gabriel deserves praise for, whenever he's messed up this season he's redeemed himself in the same game. Lost the ball vs Mitrovic and scored the winner later vs Fulham, today's first goal was mostly his fault and without sprint deep in injury time of the first half we most likely don't score our second.

Hope he's able to take that necessary extra step in his development in time. Must adapt better to the physical nature of the game and look to be on the ball more often to dictate tempo, and facilitate control rather than just final third effectiveness.

Odegaard's better.

Hasn't quite reached the peak of his abilities yet either. Hopefully the better the team gets the more we get to see him dominate.

Nice work by Arteta and Edu to bring in Vieira, who excels at just what Odegaard lacks in, i.e. finishing. Hopefully him waiting in the wings pressures Odegaard to improve.

Yeah no contest for me too, Odegaard has everything Ozil had plus more. Ok maybe not that amazing level of technical ability but he is way more involved in general play and works much harder.

In two or three years when he's toughened up a fraction and come into his voice, he will become an extremely dependable player.

At the moment if the game isn't being played his way, he sometimes struggles to impose himself.

Not enough is made of the quality of that pass to Martinelli. His run from when Saka gets the ball from White, to his slide rule pass beating the hapless TAA. It was perfect. Spurs would’ve put it on repeat and ripped a DVD last night.

It was definitely the booking. He was only half-arseing his challenges from then on.

The one chance where he scuffed his shot straight at the keeper was very poor. That was a middling chance, but a lot of good players make more from that.

Reminds me of Modric in his first while at Spurs, had all the tools but took a while to learn to deal with the English game. Ode is similar, on his day he's a boss but other days the opposition make life uncomfortable and he struggles. TBF even though he struggled against Liverpool he still managed to make a big impact with his assist and thats always a good sign. Opposition know he's our creative engine too so they target him. I think a bit more rotation or earlier subbing wouldn't really hurt him at this point, in fact I think he'd be the better for it.

Agree with that - the weight on the pass was perfect too. Even a fraction more or less weight on the ball would have killed the chance.

Stats show he already impacts games in a massive way. If this is his shit self, then the future is bright.

I'm not hot on Odegaard because he has huge boots to fill. Bergkamp, Fabregas, Ozil... Those three were easily top 3 creative players in the world during their peaks.

Can Odegaard do the same? We shall see.
