Bang on.

But I’ve never really flip flopped. Always been a bit skeptical. Maybe he will improve and find a higher level in him, but it won’t be while we are playing this sort of bore football, where everything creative has to go through him and everybody everywhere knows he is basically only trying to find Saka, drift inside to try a left footed shot, or curl one in hoping someone can get on the end of it at the far post. That’s his whole entire game, with a couple of flicks and back heels sprinkled in every now and then.

He's a good player and young with room for improvement but people were really overrating him at times, calling him our best player, world class, etc He's certainly not an issue for us. Get a good striker in front of him and a decent midfielder in there with him and Party and he's fine.

Hope it isn't a case of him playing through something and that we just can't afford to rest him. Could come back to bite us.

He seems like a natural leader, but I don't care that much about the captaincy. I can sort of understand why Wenger started using it as bait to keep players here.

Because given specific time frames every development can look like a 'trend'.

He's a very good player already with massive potential and very important to a team like ours that's otherwise lacking a nexus like him. No need to add any "best in X between Y and Z" nonsense to prove it.

What do you guys do when picking your FPL teams? 'Pukki hasn't scored in the last 10 but I can't drop him because that's an arbitrary time frame'.

Nobody's forming any conclusions or handing out any trophies, but it does offer up a stats based glimpse into how player is performing in relation to his peers in recent months, perhaps after he started playing regularly. You're certainly not going to find Elneny or Cedric on there.

Relative to how a player is developing, the start of the season is just as arbitrary.

I'm not usually a fan of arbitrary timeframes either, but if that's true it's really impressive no matter how you look at it. Especially since we as a team don't exactly create that much, it's basically all him and Saka. Imagine if we had another proper midfielder next to him to share the creative burden with and an actual striker to score those chances. As impressive as Ode and Saka are, it seems to me they're creating chances for each other an awful lot and that's not ideal, because neither are natural finishers and teams have already started targeting our right side.

It's a ridiculous timeframe if you're using it to argue who is the best in the league for creating chances.

But it's a decent timeframe if you're evaluating form or Arsenal's improvement.

He's 7th this season for chances created, and would be higher if only looking at open play. James Ward and Raphina jump ahead of him simply based on set pieces.

The same used to apply to Maddison at Norwich and more so if you include crosses.

The question it raises for me is then in relation to our numbers for big chances created.

watched some ode comps tonight and im convinced hes going to become an arsenal legend. i hope hes given the armband permanently this summer

I also hope that he also adds goals to his repertoire for use when teams sit off him looking to close down his passing options. Mostly I hope he isn't our only creative option in midfield, and we either sign a DLP type capable of opening up the pitch from deeper, and/or a ball carrier who can drive forward on the ball as seen with PV4, Yaya, Pogba or Diaby, although not necessarily a B2B player.
