He's massively overrated but he's still quite good and he's only 22. I agree he needs to develop more threat in his game though, he has the tools for it he just needs to be braver with the ball.

With his technique, he should be scoring more. An AM shouldn't just be setting up chances for others.

I agree,I didn't follow his career before he came here but I obviously heard how highly rated he was. But his own goal threat is woeful right now, he really needs to develop that because the way he approaches chances it's poor usual wanting more time then he has which means he loses the opportunity.

Like a lot of our younger players there is lots to like and potential but they are still some way from being the players we will need to help drive consistent performances but we know that now so can't be an excuse if when they don't manage to defy reality and not perform like the inexperienced players they are.

I find odegaard under appreciated here. Don't find him overrated at all and he still have a few levels to go

Even v Brighton he was better than the others despite still being not so great.

I think he's class too. Technique and intelligence is a notch above most and he plays with a bit of personality on the pitch. I think we're holding him back a bit by not channeling more balls through him. We've straightened out a lot of lines since he came in. He's made for attacking football though, not this hodgepodge we're playing.

Put him in either City or Liverpool and watch his assists increase 10x. Not saying he can't improve, he's still young and new in the league and his goal scoring has always been a weakness but we're holding him back a lot more than he's holding us back.

He's scored 6 goals this season as well, he can and should absolutely improve on his goalscoring, but considering how little we score in general that's a decent haul and the season's not over.

He's brilliant. Players around him need to match his level of dedication and focus, we'd lose 50% less.

It's less about style of play and more about just getting him the ball - Partey feeds it into him often and fast, Lokonga not so much. Cedric and White were almost actively avoiding passing to either him or Saka yesterday, or taking an eternity to play a telegraphed ball. It boggles the mind that they're not trying to get him the ball as much as possible.

Partially it's on him though. He had no problems making an impact in the last 15 mins and while that was partially down to the circumstances in the game, we was also visibly more alert and awake, whereas most of the game he was in a daze - the same one everyone bar Martinelli was trapped in.

In the long run though, an upgrade to Laca and in CM and a fit Partey and he'll be running the show for us.

I wish one of the others would step up and lead the team when he's struggling or being marked out of the game. It really feels like Saka plays his own game and nobody else's, probably because he's fouled so much. ESR is just inconsistent. Martinelli has all the hustle, but isn't taking much responsibility in the final third. Pepe is a totally random player, you can't trust him to start with any kind of predictable base level. Eddie looks only half-decent against tired legs, he's not the answer either.

Laca and Xhaka are the problem. Not Odegaard, Cedric, or even Tavares. They really are yokes around this otherwise exciting young team's necks.

Yep you expect a level of inconsistency around a group of players who's ages range from 20 to 23, thats natural. It should be the senior players carrying them when they are a little off but instead its Saka, ESR and Martinelli carrying the goal scoring burden because Laca can't and its Odegaard carrying too much of the midfield build up duty because Xhaka offers so little. Partey is the only senior player who really makes life easier on the youngsters. The manager would also find easier to leave the likes of Saka out for a game if he had reliable senior players to carry the team while the youngsters had a rest.

He lacks the "it" factor.

Not enough quality in his boots to propel us and win us games when things aren't clicking unfortunately.

Solid piece, but more of a grafter where we need a crafter.
