What a shame he's wasting his time at Marseille and in Ligue Un. He should either be here challenging for a spot or at another Premier League club learning the league.

Arteta had made the choice on the first part and, right or wrong, it s what it is, but Saliba is a fool for choosing to spend another year in a league where most weeks he's going to have it easy. He'll get MotMs galore, but be much the same player this time next year. Big whoop.

He's French and going to one of the biggest clubs in France instead of slumming it at WBA or some such nonsense. Makes absolute sense from his POV.

it makes sense if he has no intention of coming back to arsenal, which is entirely possible

It's not just possible it's entirely likely. Since we bought Saliba initially we signed Luiz, extended Luiz, signed Mari, signed Gabriel and now White. Even if you wanted to ignore the initial loan back to ASSE we had five centre backs at the end of last season, lost one and just spent 50m+ on another defender who's very young (and still almost four years older than Saliba). The bloke who made these decisions is still in charge. Why would he make any decision with Arsenal in his mind when Arsenal at least right now clearly doesn't give a fuck about him?

This is it. A good season with Marseille will put him in the shop window.

Sadly I think this is done unless we have a new manager and potentially a new technical director next summer who can win him over. He's going to be Arteta's KDB/Salah/Lukaku I reckon.

Arteta won't have a top level career after he fails here so I don't think he needs to worry about this. He'll be irrelevant as a footballing figure within the next three seasons.

He’ll end up at some mid table club in Spain. He’s only here because he used to play for Arsenal, and the dimwits in charge thought that qualified him for the job.

The worst mistake we made was to “give him some more time”.

What Spanish midtable club would take him? He only has links to Real Sociedad and he's not good enough for them either.

There's some tragic revisionism going on here. Can't complain about not being able to shift the likes of Xhaka and Laca without acknowledging Wenger's heavy hand in our decline.

There is no one that's done more for this club, he's a true legend. But he needed to go.

No denying he needed to go, but even needed to go Wenger is better than the current setup. He would have been much better at developing and playing the current crop of young talent we have, not spend 100m on replacing them with average players.

Tragic really , Wenger going was the right thing of course but I was just thinking how shit are our current management team that even a past it Wenger would be better for us than those two.

prime arsene would've played and developed him all of last season, and given him a starting berth this season
