at some point in the last year, leno decided he wouldn't sign a new contract, prompting the stunned pikachu face from both arteta and edu

24 million? Thats not a bad amount if consensus and sound judgment suggest he's future favorite to be England number 1. I think he's dead mediocre though but thats off 1-2 games and highlights.

Thats all the Joe Willock money gone then.

Most England number 1s are shit too.

Has there ever been this much consensus among fans AGAINST such a high profile signing?

The last 2 clubs he signed for were relegated the season they signed him...let us hope the same fate does not befall us too.

I'm done caring man. I'll watch all our games but I fucking can't deal with all the stupid shit Arteta and co are doing.

My only hope is that Sheffield really dig their heels in and refuse to sell like Raya and Brentford last season. Arteta looks hell-bent on fucking everything up for his successor. Let's be honest, there's no way he lasts the whole season.

What a bunch of clowns we have running our club.

Well that does sadly tend to be true. I guess what I was meaning to say is that he turns out to be as good or better than Woodman, Henderson, Johnstone etc. who all could break the stereotype. Its not feeling good but hope this is just otherworldly 4d scouting. Not the smoking crack type either.

Was also player of the season at those clubs if I have it right. Which suggests it wasn't him and those teams were just bloody terrible.

Goalkeepers winning player of the month/season regularly is always a terrible sign.

We’re as bad as Everton when they spent 30m on Pickford, Keane etc except we’re spending it ramsdale and white. Maddison can be our sigurdson

Shoud strengthen us for our midtable position

Arteta reminds me of Roberto martinez, awful but for some reason rated by some because of being a good speaker.

Inshallah it happens to rid us of this owner and management

yeah i love the top tier streak, but these clowns have to go and colossal failure is the only way they'll depart. they know they suck too that's why they wanted to be protected from relegation in the super league.

yup. failed up to the beligum job and then wasted a golden generation with his mediocrity. hopefully arteta fails up to spain because i hate them.

because leno doesn't want to be here anymore. yeah the clown duo running the football operations could have figured that out before they sold a superior keeper for 20m and then turn around and spend 24 on an inferior one the next season.

only thing i can really hope for with this club is to be so spectacularly wrong about my prognosis that in a few years i'm feeling like shit for doubting beavis and butthead ... for even calling them that.

Might be alone in thinking this, but I think he’s a decent keeper. Like his presence and agility

I'd rather we go in hard for Martinez. Leno would then have to ride the bench for the next 2 seasons.

Honestly I agree Tactics. No way Villa would be able to refuse 40m for someone they just bought for less than half that a year ago. But buying Ramsdale? For £30m? Bro I'd rather resign Kolasinac than spend that on such an average keeper.

I know many keepers do well into their 30s but I’m not sure about spending £40m on a 29yr old Martinez. Just go for Onana ffs, you literally cannot go wrong.

He'd at least give us 3-4 years. Ramsdale on the other hand, talk about being irresponsible.we have so many holes in the squad yet we choose to focus on goalkeeper. I know Leno isn't Martinez but he's still pretty good, and if he wants out then he can suck it up cuz he's under contract.

Apparently reports that Cana is the one pushing this are false and it’s actually our data and analytics dept.

Is that what they're calling Arteta now.

Athletic reporting talks are on the verge of breaking down down as we can't agree a fee.

passing stats look sus considering how arteta wants to play

Quite embarrassing for Wheatley, since his tween virtually everyone (Sky, Beeb and now the Athletic) have either denied it’s close or claim it’s broken down.

wheatley has been rubbish the whole window. going to reduce him to houseboat status

in saying that, bell also tweeted there was a breakthrough on ramsdale in last 24 hours, but didn't go as far as saying a fee was agreed

In fairness to him even the Athletic claim the so called ‘advanced talks’ happened today so maybe he was just mis informed about how positive they were. He’s had a couple of exclusives on deals for guys like Kido but not much more. Had to do a U turn on Saliba after originally claiming he’d stick around.

I’ve lost a lot of respect for him after his childish beef with Romano.

I had a sneaky feeling he was spoofing his retweets/likes on twitter after coming back to goal. some relatively obscure transfer news was suddenly pulling 5k+ likes. his little spat with fabrizio has driven him to hiring a click farm 😆

Has a signing that has been universally hated by the fanbase ever worked out? Even Willian had some fans ffs.

Really hope the news about talks breaking down be true. I honestly can't believe we would have spent 100m on White, Ramsdale, Lokonga and Tavarez without even improving the squad.

Fuck yeah if the rumors of it breaking down are true.

We would be absolutely mental to pay Sheffield's asking price of 32 million or anywhere near that for Ramsdale.

wheatstraw now also confirming things have broken down

it's always an odd mixture of relief and concern when players you don't rate are being chased by the club all summer, and they still don't end up signing.

These are the best Arsenal-related news in a while, thank God. No matter how hard they try I can't imagine them finding a worse keeper to spend £24m or whatever it was on.

Well don't tempt fate, Quincy.

After tonight's penalty heroics, Edu/Arteta may have a bright idea to stump up that for Kepa.

Imagine spending 4m more on this shite keeper than what we received for Willock.

you say that, but it's the 3rd attempt we've made to sign him and it's ended up in failure. I mean it's good we didn't overpay, but it doesn't say much for the negotiation team who is yet to stick the landing in this window

so after it became too ridiculous for arteta's fanboys to keep blaming Cana for transfer shit, it's now the data and analytics dept. anyone but the big dogs who are paid to make the decisions.

it's no wonder analytics chief sarah rudd left the club, she didn't want be blamed for those chuckleheads fuck ups.

That was my only hope for this transfer. That Sheffield hold strong like Brentford did last year with Raya. Thank God.

Agreed fully bro. Don't think I could have stomached signing this guy for 30m. Absurd.

Edu and Arteta seem to be on a mission to destroy this club. £50m on Ben White, £25m on Ramsdale. Links with Tammy Abraham. Whatever next?

No matter what other excuse we try to come up for them, it's absolutely shambolic. Still can't believe we tried 3 bids close to 20m for this joker. A clear sign our club doesn't know what they are doing.

If our GK coach or whoever had their way we might have let Leno Martinez leave and paid over 50m for Raya and Ramsdale
