Can't see this guy wanting to be second choice which makes me concerned at how we may be potentially looking to replace Leno. Hopefully just rumours.

We fucked ourselves by selling Martinez without locking Leno down first.

Leno had 3 years. There was nothing to lock down

it's moreso the fact that we seem to have been caught off-guard by lenos intention to leave, especially after having made quite a statement of faith in selling Martinez in favour of leno. something changed in the space of 12 months.

Terrible piece of business if we bring in Ramsdale for 20M. Of all of Edu's fireable offences, this should be the final nail in his coffin.

If we seriously buy Ben White for £50 mil and Ramsdale for over £20 mil 😆

As bad as wenger buying Xhaka and mustafi

You can still land a world class player for that amount

Most businesses have 5 year plans. Leno being one of our most valuable assets should not be assessed when he has two years to go and is at risk. We need to be proactive. The failure of management to recognise this means we are about to spend more money on Ramsdale than what we sold Martinez for when Martinez is twice the keeper. It's poor planning.

He's looked absolutely garbage every time I've seen him but maybe I caught him on his bad days. Either way I wouldn't want him as 1st choice and wouldn't want to spend £20m on a second choice. Hopefully he's just No.5 on the list.

That would be a lot worse than Xhaka and Mustafi. Those two looked great before they came and the fee was appropriate for them, 70m for White and Ramsdale would be taking the piss.

Add the other 70 mill for Maddison and we are basically dancing in the piss

At least Xhaka did look decent at Mochengladbach.

Dunk was definitely better than white in what I saw last season.

Sheffield United going from Henderson to Ramsdale was the biggest drop off in a position seen in a long time.

Good vid on this guy from Latte Firm:

No real assessment of his footwork due to small sample size. All in all, pretty much confirms it'd be a crazy gamble at the prices mentioned. Lots of flaws in his game.

I started laughing at SHU spending 20m on an absolutely shit keeper at the start of last season when Villa spent lesser to get a world class one. He almost directly contributed to their relegation with how bad his performances are but to be fair someone has managed to compile performances of him that he didn't concede any due to slow reflexes or lousy technique.

Still looks bloody dodgy with his positioning and shot saving technique.

would navas be available?

He should be.

not sure if that's just a shit comp, but it doesn't exactly quell the doubts

Looks absolute dogshit in that compilation.

It's a shit comp. Picked specifically for that reason.

What’s he like with his feet? Very few comps out there that show that side of his game

The 32m dollar question.

spending the willock money wisely

we'll have spent close to 100m with this deal, and not moved the needle at all. laughable really

It's an insanely stupid use of resources. I hate the people who run this club.

24 million? Thats not a bad amount if consensus and sound judgment suggest he's future favorite to be England number 1. I think he's dead mediocre though but thats off 1-2 games and highlights.

Either edu and arteta are playing 4d chess with this hg player bs or they're just dumb and we're fucked as a team for the next few years. This could be our mustafi and xhaka window of the 2020s.... Dooming us to players and contracts that will move us backwards.

No offense to ramsdale, just the allocation and usage of funds at hand is a bit stupid it seems.

And the season starts on Friday. We spent close to that and the difference is minimal at best for the current squad. "Judge at the end" well, we we're at the end technically

I think it's over 100 with this deal. I don't see it with Ramsdale(seen very little of him to be honest) but if he is here long term, to push and get the number 1 spot in the end, then it's not a bad deal. If not however, it can turn into a very very bad move. We shall see. Just one small thing I want to say, we sold Martinez for 16 mil and got Ramsdale for 30(while also blowing money on Runarrson & getting Ryan on loan).

We are hopeless. Fuck this club

I think this is undoubtedly the most baffling link of the window. It's seemingly increasingly likely that this is happening and I still don't understand the logic. I refuse to believe that there isn't a better 'keeper out there who is a comparable age, cheaper and better than Ramsdale.

I'm sure if he's a dud, we'll go out and replace him but the thought that this is the guy we're investing in to be our long-term #1 is disappointing to say the least.

I think we need to take into account that Arteta and Edu don't have any background in Economics / Finance. They may not understand use of resources. At times like these, Wenger is missed.

If they wanted a homegrown backup there are plenty of cheaper alternatives.

I'm confused as to why so many people now think that Leno isn't good enough. He's not world class but he's well down the list of 'must be replaced' among the starting players we've got - hi Xhaka, Laca etc.

You know it's real bad when even Don is disappointed.
