I think going for a quick fix in Conte over a proper rebuild with Graham Potter, who seems the obvious choice to me, shows their desperation to get back to the Champions League and the riches it brings.

I think it's a bad move for both parties, and I'm very glad Potter isn't rocking up there to oversee a clearing out of the mass of dross in their squad and building it up.

I mean if we're going down those lines Pochettino finished ahead of Conte in his last season with Chelsea too...

Managers can definitely play a big part in bringing the best out of players but I've never bought into the idea that they can make up for their lack of ability. Deli Alli, Ndombele and Lo Celso maybe have much more to give but again, Conte doesn't have a universal ability the bring the best out of everyone, many end up being outcasts instead. Probably why he insisted on signing about 30 players for Inter in his short time there.

pretty hilarious that they cheaped out on paying for Conte this summer.

now after wasting part of the season, they sack Nuno, pay his severance money, and then want to pay for Conte and show him the money! 15.5 million pound salary a year!

Conte should've waited to get the newcastle or utd job, spurs might be too broke after paying him that salary 😆

Conte putting his reputation on the line, on one hand spurs never win anything on the other Conte is a serial winner. Can’t see this being a good move for Conte.

Also talk that Conte wanted some assurances regarding a number of transfers in Jan, and talk of a 200m+ transfer kitty = TH will be well broke when he leaves at the end of next season.

dunno how spurs have conned conte into taking that job after he turned it down just a few months ago. levy must have panicked and buckled on a bunch of things that stretch their budget. still annoying though, I reckon he could have that team playing an effective counter attacking style by the new year

They’ll go for every top manager available until something clicks.

Partly but also they have a shit tonne of debt, they need results before it turns existential.

Thought initially it's a left field appointment but probably makes sense as a stepstone until they have the squad to get a big name manager.
