Agreed they won't be signing Mbappe, and it's unlikely they'll sign Haaland without having a road map with a bona fide manager / DoF.
I think they'll look to go mainly domestic in Jan so as to kick start the forward momentum, and the overseas 'names' will be for the summer.
That said IF they wanted a real statement of intent to get the ball rolling, then I'd be looking to sign Haaland in Jan - even if it didn't come off.
I wonder if AW could be enticed to join their project in any capacity - would certainly give them some creds.

Many reports coming in that Steve Bruce will be sacked tomorrow and they will approach Roberto Martinez to take over Newcastle. Failing that, they will go for Potter.

A small amount of money (apparently less than 200m) will be available in their transfer kitty in January.

Really hope they don't get Potter.

That could be a terrible outcome, Rangnick with enough money and powers to sign who he wants is the quickest shortcut for a club to reach the top but not sure there's something to it, he just signed Gisdol as Lok Moscow coach. Let's hope there's either nothing to the rumour or he's losing it anyway because Gisdol is one of the worst coaches I've ever seen.

Problem being that back then we were contenders so, on paper at least, it made sense to cream some of our talent off the top. Now we're fully midtable fodder - they are more likely to look at Tottenham and/or leicester.

Yeah, no one is going to look at the cast offs of a midtable team and think 'i'll have some of that' regardless of the quality of the players being shifted. Back then the perception around us was that we couldn't keep a hold of our best players, no it's that we can't get rid of our crap. If I had more money than sense I know where I'd go shopping.

Mind you, I would think the likes of Leno, Holding and AMN could be smart 'panic' buys for them.

ASM isn't better in any way or form than Pepe come on. There's a reason one went for 15m to Newcastle and the other for 70m even if it's to us

ASM is rated at 40m and above now. I doubt we can sell Pepe for 40m.

People get taken in by guys like ASM too easily imo, bit like Zaha and Eze. It’s one thing to do it at teams at that level that get space and do it at a side that comes up against deep defences. Grealish is genuinely a good player and even he looks half the player at City.

No, but literally imagine if we could get £25m in today's money—or even yesterday's money—for a Xhaka to Newcastle transfer. Pipe dream.

Great read from Arseblog again. Our owners and key sponsors are certainly not very nice, or are representative of regimes that are quite awful.

Our fantasy group was chatting about this today. Being a supporter is an affliction as much as it is a choice. How do I stop caring about Arsenal's results and footballing fortunes. I still get anxious when I go to sleep if I know we're playing during the night.
That won't change if we're owned by Mother Theresa or the Qatari royal family.
