If there are any threats of them going down by December watch the January transfer window.
Probably will be like the City Robinho window. Think they will go for some past it famous players from the Spanish giants who are struggling financially first.
Agreed they will go into the market in Jan both in regards to retaining EPL status and to start the rebuild.
As for the type of players I think the market has changed re COVID, and there are a number of players entering their last season on contract they can both talk to and/or bid on to make an offer their current club may not be able to refuse.
I'd suspect if they were in any trouble in Jan then they'd look to sign players from within the EPL or being EPL experienced so as to minimise any adjustment period. This would include the likes of Laca, Nketiah, AMN, Guendouzi, Torreira, Kolasinac, Leno, Holding, Chambers from our lot, but also the likes of Pogba & Rambo. Similarly there are also players who were made available in the summer they can look to follow-up on including the likes of Sterling and Silva - all of whom would improve the current squad and would provide a new core to build upon.
Then there are the overseas players who are also either available for sale and/or in their last seasons - Coutinho, Aouar, Dembele, Belotti, Vlahovic, Haaland, Lewandowski etc. Lastly there are also those players who may be available for loan to consider.
IMO the key will be who they get in as Manager and DoF, but they could have a top4 quality match day squad by the start of next season.
