Yep agree with that. ASM has had a good start to the season but he's been at Newcastle for 2 years and had the odd spell of form before this one too. He's great entertainment when he's on form but he's never been consistent.

He's also never had a spell of form as good as Pepe in the latter half of last season.

Pepe who's been horribly used by Arteta got 16 goals last season in a year when everyone could still clearly see he has another two or three gears in him. ASM is fun to watch but I'm not sure he has scored 16 in his whole career yet

One thing though, Newcastle attack is absolutely horrible and he is always alone up front trying to conjure magic. They play 541 so it will be interesting to see what he can do in a proper side

He's the kind of player you don't really use stats to fully judge because he wrecks so much havoc and pulls defenders all over the place.

I agree but that's what Pepe used to do for Lille as well. Put ASM in our team and after Arteta's seen him in training once the only havoc he'll wreck will be in the stands or reserves.

klopp has publicly criticised the premier league for the whole thing. first coach I've seen speak against it with anything approaching a spine. from reading his background over the years he's always been an old fashioned lefty, so things like this seem to grind his gears more than most

It's amazing how these guys have the confidence to just come out and say the Saudi Government have no link to PIF. It would be like me using my money to buy a car, registering it under my name, hitting someone while driving it and then giving the police 'legally binding' assurances that I have no connection to any of it.

That's actually the most troubling bit, if they were forced by the courts that would be one thing, but the PL approved it despite strong opposition from 19 of it's biggest stakeholders. And they kept it a secret from them as well, wtf 😆

In the meantime Qatar have their claws in UEFA.

At least the ESL isn't happening.

Just like UEFA who have been convinced that RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig are two completely independent clubs.

No more Saudi money coming in Flo, they've already went in and got Newcastle. Just hope the Kuwaitis come in for us. Either that or becoming the B Class investment for the Qataris.

No one will buy us because Stan is in the way. The Saudis bought Newcastle cos it was easy, Ashley wanted to sell and the fans were delighted to have the new owners, when the next massively rich state or individual buys a club they'll take one thats easier to get.

Are none of the other Emiratis interested in buying a football club ? Like Sharjah or Dubai ?

Who knows man. Fact is we've already been left behind by those clubs with super sized pockets, and if don't then sooner or later we'll be left even further behind.
