partey and bissouma is fine as a pair if you have a highly productive 10 ahead of them. I'd have liked someone like Bernardo Silva in that role. having willock in front of them is a no go

Makes sense in terms of the breakdown. Seems like a more expensive, probably not as good alternative to the Jorginho pursuit last year.

Personally not a fan.

He has flattered to deceive for most of his career.

Barring last 6-9 months which have come at the perfect time to give him bumper pay day just as he became a free agent.

Not his biggest fan either but to be fair to him his improvement started under Rino already. Much more energy and urgency to his game, he's looked genuinely great in many games. Never thought he'd amount to much since his KSC and Hamburg days.

Also probably the unluckiest player in world football. I don't even watch that many Milan games but I must've seen him hit the woodwork at least ten times this season, four times in one game alone.

😆 Nope - just like him as an independent point of view.

Whilst I'm not against Neves I would prefer someone who can play more of the hybrid 8/10 role rather than as a 6/8.

No. That would tell me we should've allococated more money to the CM spot instead of signing Ben White. For the White signing to make sense, we need a great midfield.

Not if targeting White is more about being able to adjust our field position to play with a high defensive line, and/or to have pace behind Neves as we didn't have with Xhaka.

TBH I'd be more concerned about spending 150-200m on a new spine and if we still didn't get it right in terms of balance and being fit for purpose.

That's assuming lack of funds is the issue though, which I don't think is necessarily the right assumption to make. Neves is rumoured to be worth £35m, lets say you don't buy Ben White so you have an extra £50m to play with, a total of £85m... what targets become available that are not already in reach?

I'm not sure those are the only acceptable CM signings, but I agree with the principle. Neves would be underwhelming.

Are you asking what targets become available for £85m who aren't available for £35? I can't imagine there are many midfielders who'd be willing to come here who aren't available for £85m. Can't say the same for £35m - hopefully.
