Sky Sport News: Arsenal still interested in Ruben Neves but there is still a big gap between what Wolves want and their valuation for him

Sky saying this is not dead, we really are fucking around with everyone, nobody knows who we are really going for, maybe not even us

IMO this is because we don't know if Arteta is looking to rebuild in order to meet his criteria to play 433, or if he is simply looking to improve the current 4231.

TBH I don't particularly care one way or another so long as it is complete and done properly with no gaps or compromises, and then we don't try to change things around again when we regain UEFA qualification/top4.

The determining factor must be the direction the club wants to take in terms of style going forward, and not about hitting the ground running so as to 'save' Arteta's and Edu's jobs by the end of this calendar year.

there's just a lot of smoke right now, most of the links are houseboat, and even the supposedly solid links are actually still fairly uncertain. We just have to wait.

If the links are true it's just responsible approach to the transfer window. Arteta mentioned at the end of the seasons that there are plans and then there are contingency plans etc. We should be in for at least 3 players in each of the positions we're recruiting for.

20 days later

Dimarzio reckons he's our top CM target. feels like we're casting a pretty wide net for that centre mid spot

We would have already made a big push for him if he was our preference for CM.

he seems like low hanging fruit. if I had to guess at this point, I'd say maddison and locatelli are the clubs long shot targets, and neves/bissouma and aouar are the backup

It could be that he was our top target but talking to Wolves made the deal seem untenable, or maybe Neves isn't that interested.

I have seen reports we are supposedly in talks with Wolves re Neves as it appears Locatelli is a no go.

Yep, from Portugal, no idea if they are reliable.

Arsenal are already negotiating with Wolverhampton to sign Rúben Neves. The Portuguese midfielder is contracted to Wolves until 2024 and Bruno Lage will certainly not want to leave him behind, so it is natural that a large bid will be required. [@Record_Portugal]

every report I've seen from o jogo and record over the years has literally never eventuated e.g. William Carvalho, gelson martins etc

Neves is a very good player, even if he isn't flavor of the month. Could very well go up another level as well.

Still hoping for a more exciting signing at CM.
