Funny how there's no outstanding player in the entire tournament a keeper won the POTT.
Can't have issues with Donnarumma snatching the award after he saved three penalties in the final, but Chiellini was the outstanding player for me across the tournament. It got lost a bit lost in the conversation because Italy were doing so well offensively, but he made at least two match-winning blocks in every game he played, including tonight. Bloke is unreal.
Chiellini was great in the tournament, but I personally thought that Bonucci was sensational. Great reading of the game, with a bit of nastiness.
Re Southgate:
Shocking, shocking, shocking tactical handling of the game today. At another big nation, he would be sacked after tonight. We gave Italy far too much respect. We simply sat back for far too long and the ball couldn’t stick upfront.
Also, how the fuck did Mason fucking Mount get 90mins? The most non-descript performance I have seen from a player in a while, let alone a final. He literally did fuck all, and Southgate had all those options on the bench. Utter madness.
Grealish should have been on at half time for Mount. Grealish could have held on to the ball, as well as beat the press of Italy.
